Both the Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe and President Maithripala Sirisena have stated the need to empowering of women in all fields through their statements issued behalf of the International Women's Day which falls yesterday(08).Prime Minister Wikramsinsghe has stated that the Government will create an environment acknowledges the gender equality and ensures economic empowerment and recognition for all the women.
The Government have a collective responsibility to ensure that women are assured of protection.honor and an appreciation in every aspect.
Meanwhile President Sirisena has stated through the statement issued regarding International W omens Day that the legal and social barriers that prevents women from reaching social leadership and positions should be removed.
