A Stock of 359 African Elephant Tusks which confiscated in 2012 and weighing around 1.4 tonnes is due to be destroyed at Galle Face Grounds in Colombo tomorrow(26) according to Sri Lanka Customs.The Stock of African Elephant Tusks worth around Rs.4.2 Billion had seized by Sri Lanka Customs Officers in 2012 after being transported through Colombo in a container arrived from Kenya and bound for Dubai it has been reported.
The container carrying Elephant Tusks had stopped at Colombo Harbor on 14th Of May 2012.
