Pesticide Glyphosate To Be Banned In Sri Lanka -President Sirisena
The Government has decided to ban the importation and distributing of Pesticide Agro Chemical "Glyphosate" according to the President Maithripala Sirisena.The World Health Organization(WHO) as well as the consultants have been recommended to stop importing this pesticide due to it's effect on kidney disease that spreading in north central province president has revealed.

The protesters were produced before the Jaffna Magistrate Court today in three batches and out of them 47 were remanded until 01st of June,43 were until 03rd of June and 40 were until 04th of June respectively.
These protesters were damaged public property near Jaffna Court Complex and assaulted the Police Officers who were there at the court complex to provide security by demanding death sentence for the nine suspects arrested in connection with kidnapping,rape and murder of a 18 year old school girl in Kayts .The tense situation has occurred when the suspects involved in gang rape were produced before Jaffna Magistrate Court yesterday.

Four Opposition MP'S Holding Ministerial Posts In Government Have Resigned From Their Posts
Four MP' s of the main opposition Sri Lanka Freedom Party(SLFP) who are holding Ministerial Posts of the present government have been resigned from their posts short while ago.The main reason behind their decision to resigned from their posts was dissolving the local government institutions and not holding fresh elections for those institutions.

Former Defense Secretary Was Questioned By The Financial Crimes Investigations Division
The former Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapakshe was questioned by the Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division this morning regarding the alleged MIG Deal and the share issuance of Lanka Hospitals.
The former defense secretary had filed a fundamental rights petition at Supreme Court on 11th of May by challenging the legality of forming financial crimes division and seeking an interim order to prevent the crimes division from arresting him over the charges.
After considering the petition a two member Judge Panel of the Supreme Court has controversially issued an interim order last week by avoiding financial crimes division from arresting the former defense secretary until this October.

Around 1508 Estimated HIV Positives Living In Sri Lanka Yet To Be Identified-UNAIDS Rep.In Sri Lanka
The UNAIDS has estimated that around 3240 Persons living with HIV/AIDS are there in Sri Lanka the UNAIDS Representative in Sri Lanka Dr.Dayanath Ranathunge has said.Out of these persons living with HIV/AIDS around 1732 have been identified and 1508 yet to be identified he has revealed.
Addressing a media seminar on HIV/AIDS held at UNAIDS Office in Colombo this morning Dr.Ranathunge has said that UNAIDS Office in Sri Lanka has targeted to eliminate HIV/AIDS from Sri Lanka by the year 2030 and HIV/AIDS Preventive Programmes are planned to achieve that target.

Former President Has Commemorated The War Victory In Colombo
While government is due to commemorate the war victory tomorrow(19) the former President Mahinda Rajapkshe along with the group of provincial politicians and Cinema And Tele Drama Artistes have commemorated the War Victory in 2009 at the Viharamaha Devi Open Theater in Colombo today(18).

Court Of Appeal Extended The Stay Order Against Baanning Of Full Face Helmets
The Court Of Appeal has today(18) extended the stay order against the banning of wearing full face helmets by the Motorcyclists until 02nd of July.
The Police have earlier decided to implement a ban of using full face helmets due to the increased number of crimes occurred in the country have done by using those helmets.

Two Police Officers Were Killed And Three Others Injured Due To Van-Tipper Truck Collision
Two Persons were killed and three injured when a Van collided with a Tipper Truck at Ududumbara on Kandy-Mahiynagana Main Road early this morning.
The Two who were killed on the accident were Police Officers a Sub Inspector and a Police Constable attached to the Galaha Police Station who were returning in the van from a funeral house at Ududumbara Area.Three Injured Police Officers

Sri Lanka To Request From Middle Eastern Countries To Increase The Wages Of Sri Lankan Workers
Sri Lankan government has decided to request from Middle Eastern Countries to increase the wages of Sri Lankan Workers working in those countries.
The wages that Sri Lankan workers are receiving in Middle Eastern countries at present not sufficient enough when comparing to the high cost of living prevails in those countries According to the Minister of Foreign Employment and Promotions Thalatha Athukorale.
Minister Athukorale has stressed the importance of increasing minimum wages of Sri Lankan workers in the Middle Eastern Countries when she meet the Saudi Arabian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka recently.

Female Sex Workers of the age group 70 to 75 years old who are engage in sex industry throughout the island are on the increase a latest survey has revealed,The most shocking revelation of this survey is that the majority of clients comes to these veteran sex workers are school boys of the ages of 15 and 16 years .
According to the Abhimani Womens' Organization which carried out this survey, the sex workers belongs to the 70 to 75 year category are the ones who were in the sex industry when they were young and now due to the pressure of their children and grand children entered the sex industry again to earn money for their families."The children and grand children of most of these aged sex workers have forced them to engage in the sex industry again with the aim of earning money through them" Abhimani Women's Organization has said.
These aged sex workers are mostly engage in sex industry of the streets in City Areas it has been revealed.
