A possibility Of Landslides In Five Distrcits If The Bad Weather Continues

There's a possibility of landslides in five districts of the island if the current bad weather condition is prevailing in next 24 hours according to authorities.

Accordingly landslides are expected to be occurred at Kandy,Ratnapura,Kegalle,Nuwara Eliya and Kalutra Districts .

Nearly 70,000 School Children In Western Province Affected From Floods

Nearly 70,000 school children in Western Province have been affected due to floods according to Western Provincial Education Ministry.

Out of    the 11 educational zones in the province students in 8 zones are being affected due to floods the ministry has stated.

The majority of the affected school children are in kelaniya educational zone numbering 31,868.
10,994 school children of sri jayawardenapura educational zone and 6882 children of Colombo educational zone too affected due to floods it has been reported.

Government To Grant Money For Persons Whose Properties Damged Due To Recent Natural Disasters

Government has decided to acquire Rs.10 billion through an insurance scheme  to provide money for those whose properties were completely or partially damaged due to the recent floods and landslides.

Accordingly the government is due to provide Rs.100,000 to Rs.2.5 million for those families whose properties were damaged completely or partially.

To receive the grant those whose properties were damaged are being requested to register with relevant grama seva niladharis(village officers) in their areas.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has officially invited the Sri Lankan President to participate the summit attended by heads of seven industrial countries the United States,Japan,United  Kingdom,Germany,France,Italy and Canada.
