Prices Of 637 Imported Essential Items Had Been Increased Due To The Cess Tax

 Because of the amendments made by the Government to the Cess tax imposed on 637 imported items under 187 HS Codes with effect from yesterday (15) prices of those items will be increased according to the Ministry of Finance .Price hike | theindependentbd.com

President Ranil Wikramasinghe as the  Minister of Investment Promotions  has issued the relevant government notification on November 14, by virtue of the powers vested with  him by Section 14 of Export Development Act No. 40 of 1979.

Accordingly  the prices of imported items including  butter, dairy spreads, cheese, curd, onions, garlic, many  vegetables/ fruits, soap, wet wipes, cement, notebooks, exercise books, air conditioning machines, household or laundry washing machines, and ballpoint pens will be increased it has been announced.

A Person Was Drowned Whilst Bathing In Rathgama Sea Area

 .A 27 Year old person has drowned whilst bathing with his wife and infant  in the sea area at Rathgama area in Galle District (Southern Province).23-year-old youth drowns to death

All the three were drifted away due to the strong sea waves and residents of the area had rescued them and were admitted to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital for treatment where the male had pronounced as dead .


Government Increased The Passport Levy

 Government has increased the Passport levy  for one day and normal services with effect from tomorrow(17).Passport fees increased from today | Daily FT

Accordingly Passport levy  for Normal service has been increased by Rs.1500 from Rs.3500 to Rs.5000 and the levy  charge for one day service has been increased to Rs.20,000 .

Accordingly Sathosa had reduced the Prices of 01 Kilo Gramme of Red Kakulu Rice ,01 Kilo Gramme of Mysore Dhal and 425 Grammes Of Canned fish tin by Rs.03,09 and 45 with effect from today (16) .With this price reduction the new prices of these items are 01 KG Of Red Kekulu Rice -Rs.205,01 KG of Dhal Rs.389 and 425 Gramme Canned Fish tin Rs.540.
