Eighty Five Year Old Person Died After Colliding With A Bicycle

 Eighty five year old pedestrian was killed after colliding with a Bicycle in Matara District  yesterday (12) according to the police.

The deceased was a resident of Matara  District succumbed to his injuries after admission to the hospital it has been reported. Matara Police had arrested the Cyclist over the incident .

NBRO Had Issued Landslides Warnings To Seven Districts

The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) had issued landslide warnings to several areas in Seven Districts  yesterday (12) due to the continuous heavy showers experiencing  in those areas at present.

Accordingly level 3 (red)  and Level 2 (Amber) landslide warnings had been issued to several areas in  Matara,Badulla,Galle,Hambanthota ,Ratnapura ,Kegalle and Kalutara Districts NBRO had stated.

Meanwhile Department of Meteorology had stated there will be heavy showers upto 75 mili meters in Uva,Southern and Eastern provinces today(13).

 

CPA Filed A Petition In Supreme Court Challanging Online Safety Bil

 The Center For Policy Alternatives (CPA) had filed a petition at the Supreme court challanging the validity of the controversial "Online safety "bill gazetted by the government .

The Executive Director of CPA Dr.Paikiasothy Saravanamuttu filed the petition at Supreme court against the Bill which was gazetted and tabled in Parliament on 03rd of October for it's first reading.

The controversial bill is being subjected to concern among local  Civil society organizations and legal experts due to the constitutionality of it.
