A Stern Trade Union Action To Be Taken If The Electricity Bill Increased Again-Trade Unions
The Convener of the Trade Union Alliance Ranjan Jayalal has stated that even the Public should opposed this move .
Meanwhile the Chairman of the Public utilities commission Janaka Ratnayake has stated that despite his opposition the other three members of the Commission had approved a proposal to increase the Electricity bill by 66 percent .
Visa Office Of The Indian Embassy Has Been Closed Down
Due to a security incident reported yesterday (14) the Visa Office of the Indian Embassy had been closed down until further notice the Indian High Commission in Colombo has announced.
The decision to close down the Visa office of the Indian High Commission has been taken after a group of persons had entered the Visa office of the high commission last night and stolen a Laptop computer and 02 DVR Machines along with money it has been reported ,
Although Police are investigating on the incident no arrests has been made in this regard up to now .

Public Utilities Commission Members Approved 66 Percent Electricity Bill Hike - Chairman Opposed
The three members of the Public Utilities Commission had opposed the 36 percent Electricity bill increase proposed by the Chairman of the Commission and approved a proposal suggesting 66 percent Bill increase which will be a burden to the consumers according to the chairman of the Public Utilities Commission Janaka Ratnayake .
The 66 percent increase of the Electricity bill will be implemented with effect from tomorrow(15) Public Utilities Commission has stated ,Due to the approved proposal of increasing the electricity bill by 66 percent the Electricity Consumers have to bear an extra cost of Rs.287 billion annually .There will be a 250 percent increase on Electricity bills for those who are utilizing less then 90 units of Electricity monthly he has further added ,
