Third Reading Of The Colombo Port City Draft Bill Has Been Passed With A Majority Of 89 Votes

The third reading of the amended Draft bill of the Colombo Port City Special Economic commission has been passed in Parliament yesterday (20) with a majority of 89 votes .

The controversial draft bill which was presented to the parliament by the government had passed with 148 MP "s voted in favor and 59 had voted against it .19 MP's were absent at the time of the voting

Supreme Court has earlier informed the speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardane that 25 clauses of the Bill are against the Constitution and need to amend those .Also the court has informed that the Bill should be passed with a specials majority in Parliament and also need a referendum to get public approval ,

3441 Corona Positives Reported Today (20)

A total of 3441 Corona positives had been. Reported in the country today (20) increasing the total number of Corona positives reported so far to 154,786 a cording to National Covid -19 Prevention Center .

At the moment 30,203 Corona positives are being treated at government hospitals and quarantine centers it has been revealed

A total of. 123,532 Corona positives bad been discharged from hospitals And treatment centers

All Flights Arriving From Other Countries To Be Suspended For 10 Days

Civil Aviation Authority has decided to suspend all the flights arriving in Sri Lanka from other countries with effect from midnight of this Friday (21) Upto midnight on 31 st of May .

This step had been taken to prevent the spreading of Corona variants in the country the authority has stated .

However flights departs from Sri Lanka to other countries will continue as usual according to the officials

Total Number Of Corona Positives Reported Today (19)Has Exceeded 3000

A total of 3591 Corona Positives had been reported today (19) increasing the total number of Corona positives reported so far in the country to 151,343 according to National Covid -19 Prevention Center .

The number of Corona positives that had bern reported today is the highest number of Corona positives reported on a single day it has been revealed .

At the moment 27,925 Corona positives are being treated at Hospitals and treatment centers the Center has stated .

36 Corona Deaths Had Been Reported Today (19)

A total of 36 Corona Positives had been reported in the country today (19) Increasing the total number of Corona. Deaths reported so far to 1051 according to National Covid -19 Prevention Center .

This is the highest number of Corona deaths reported in Sri Lanka on a single day it has been revealed .

Accordingly 19 males and 17 females resided in many areas had died due to Covid Pneumonia and complications of the non communicable diseases suffered by them the Center has stated ..
