A Female Has Died And Two Others Drowned After A Canoe They Were Travelling In Nilwala River Toppled Over

A 40 year old female has died after
drowning  and two others have drowned and rescued  after the canoe   they were travelling in Nilvala River had toppled over yesrerday (18).

The two drowned persons had been rescued  by the residents of the area it has been reported  .Two motorcycles transporting in the craft had fallen to  the water and dissapeared due to the incident .

The canoe travelling from Hungagoda to thudawa villages has been used by the villagers of Hungagoda village  to reach Matara Town in short time as there's no bridge for them to cross Nilwala River .

The incident occurred as the operator of the craft was absent yesterday and the villagers who were in the craft attempting to operate it as a result.

Puttalam -Mannar Road From Puttalam Entry Closed For Transport Activities Due To Rising Water Level Of Kala Oya (River)

Transport activities of Puttalam.-Mannar road had been stopped as a result of the flood situation occured at   Puttalam Entry in Mannar road located through Vilpattu National park the Disaster Management Center in Puttalam District has announced .

The flood situation is occurred as a result of the rising water level of Kala oya(River) following the heavy showers prevailing in central hills it has been reported .

The puttalan entry of Puttalam -Mannar Road Eluwankulama cross had been closed near the shoe bridge for transport activities as a water force around five feet high flown  through the road yesterday (18)due to the rising water level of Kala oya it has been revealed .

Public is being advised to use Puttalam -Anuradhapura Road when travelling to Mannar .

Seven Divisional.Secretariets In Four Districts Received Landslide Warnings

Disaster Management Center(DMC)has
issued  landslide warnings to seven  Divisional Secretariets in four Districts namely Ratnapura ,Badulla ,Kandy and Kegalle yesterday (18)due to the heavy showers prevailing in the Districts sonce few days .

Accordingly  Balangoda ,Imbulpe and Opanayake Divisional Secretariets of Ratnapura District ,Haldummulla Divisional Secretariet in Badulla District ,Gangawatakorale Divisional Secretariet in Kandy District and Dehiowita and yatiyanthota Divisional Secretariet in Kegalle District have received landslide warnings DMC Has stated .

People living  in mountain side of these areas are being advised to be vigilant on landslide signs these days .

Around 19 Students Of An International.School In Hatton Had Suddenly Fallen Sick And Hospitalized

Around 19 students attached to an
International school in Hatton area had suddenly fallen sick duèe to  an allergic condition and admitted to the Dikoya Base hospital yesterday(18) according to reports .

Those students who are in grades 7 and 8 of the school  had suddenly developed a scraching condition and admitted to the hospital .The cause behind the condition has not yet been revealed .

Most of the students had left the hospital last evening after receiving treatment .

Police Recovered Nearly 30 KG Of Heroin In Divulapitiya

Divulapitiya Police have arrested three
persons with  32 parcels containing nearly 30 Kilo Grammes of Heroin in possession during a raid carried out at a house in  Divulapitiya this morning (18).

The haul of Heroin was  hidden inside the house it has been  revealed .

The raid had been carried out accordance to the information received by the police, Police Media Spokesmam SP Ruwan Gunasekare has stated..
