Two Persons Attached To Extremist Group "Thawheeth Jamaath"Arrested In Armour Street

"National Thowheeth Jamaath" had been arrested with Five Foreign Passports ,12 Mobile Phones ,A stock of CD's containing ideologies of "Thawheeth Jamaath"group and other equipment in possession at a Flat in Armour street ,Colombo today (29)by the Armour Street police.

Police have also taken in to custody a Tab computer in possession of the suspects.The five passports recovered in possession of the suspects are belonging to two females and three males according to Police.

The raid had been carried out accordance to information received  by the police  regarding the suspects from the people in the area.

The chief suspect of the Easter Sunday bombings Mohommad Zahran Hashim had visited the flat where the suspects have  stayed in  few weeks ago it has been revealed  

Police Are Carrying Out Search Operations To Find Out Three Burka Clad Females And A Male Who Had Purchased White Cloths Prior To Easter Sunday Attacks

Police are carrying out investigations in
search of   the Three females and a male who had purchased 9 white Blouse and Skirt kits from a Cloth shop at Giriulla prior to the Easter Sunday attacks which killed more than 250 persons and the Van they have arrived in.

Out of the 09 Blouse- Skirt kits purchased from the shop 04 had been missing whilst 05 were recovered during a search operation carried out by forces at the safe house in Seindumaridu ,Kalmunai following the suicide bomb blasts occurred there .

According to CCTV camera footages of the Shop in Giriulla area where three women and a male had been seen purchasing White Blouse -Skirt kits by spending Rs..30,000 on 15 th of April ,the three females who purchased cloths worn Burkas covering their whole body and faces .

Police have suspected the white cloths may have been purchased to launch an  attack at a funeral of Easter Sunday bomb blast victim else at a Buddhist temple.

Curfew Re Imposed In Kalmunai,Chawalakade And Samanthurai Areas

Curfew again imposed in
Kalmunai,Chawalakade and Samanthurai areas (Eastern Province)from 6 p.m today(29)and will be lifted at 8 a.m tomorrow (30)according to Police.

Curfew was imposed in these areas since 5 p.m last evening (28)and has been lifted at 8 a.m this morning (29).This move has been taken to restore security in these areas following last friday's suicide bomb blasts occurred at a safe house in Seindumaridu,Kalmunai.

Due to the blasts and gun fire exchange between extremists belonging to Thowheeth Jamaath organization and Forces 15 extremists had been killed and two others had been injured and hospitalized .

The family members of the chief suspect of Easter Sunday attacks Mohommad Zahran Hashim were among those killled during the incidents .

Meanwhile it has been revealed that a group of around 15 who were killed due to suicide bomb explosions and gun fire exchange in Seindumaridu had arrived in Kalmunai from Ampara due to search operations carried out by government forces there.

However as the residents of the area have suspected their activities they have informed police regarding them which led to search operation carried out by forces in the safe house.

After learning that residents around had informed police on them the extremists had shouted at residents and told "We are fighting for you,But you were betrayed us".The extremists then thrown Rs.5000 notes towards the residents it has been revealed. 

President Has Sent IGP Pujith Jayasundara On Compulsory Leave And Appointed Senior Police DIG C.D Wikramaratne As Acting IGP

President Maithripala Sirisena has
today (29)sent Inspector General Of Police(IGP)Pujith Jayasundara on compulsory leave and appointed Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police(DIG)C.D Wikramaratne as the acting Inspector General Of Police(IGP).

President has sent IGP Jayasundara on compulsory leave as IGP has refused to resign from his post accordance the request made by president by taking responsibility of security lapses that led to Easter Sunday bombings.

President has informed Media heads during a meeting held last week in.Colombo that IGP Jayasundara may have resigned from his post on friday (26).However he has refused to resign and refrained from attending work last Saturday (27).

Meanwhile Former Army Commander Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka who is now a Parliamentarian representing Governaning United National Party(UNP) has told in Parliament last week that IGP is not alone tesponsible  for the security lapses as State Intelligence report on the Easter Sunday  attacks should have been received by President Sirisena as well if it was received by former Defense Secretary under him Hemasiri Fernando.

Former Defense Secretary had resigned from  his post last week following  president's request to do so.

Former Army Commander Lt.General Shantha Kottegoda Appointed As New Defense Secretary

Kottegoda has been today (29)appointed as the new Defense Ministry Secrerary by the President Maithripala Sirisena

He has been appoointed to the post following the resignation of
former Defense Secretary Hemasori Fernando.

New Defense Secretary Shantha Kottegoda has taken his letter of appointment from the President at a function held in President's office.

General Kottegoda was the seventeenth commander of the Sri Lanka Army .
