President Maithripala Sirisena has
today (29)sent Inspector General Of Police(IGP)Pujith Jayasundara on compulsory leave and appointed Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police(DIG)C.D Wikramaratne as the acting Inspector General Of Police(IGP).
President has sent IGP Jayasundara on compulsory leave as IGP has refused to resign from his post accordance the request made by president by taking responsibility of security lapses that led to Easter Sunday bombings.
President has informed Media heads during a meeting held last week in.Colombo that IGP Jayasundara may have resigned from his post on friday (26).However he has refused to resign and refrained from attending work last Saturday (27).
Meanwhile Former Army Commander Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka who is now a Parliamentarian representing Governaning United National Party(UNP) has told in Parliament last week that IGP is not alone tesponsible for the security lapses as State Intelligence report on the Easter Sunday attacks should have been received by President Sirisena as well if it was received by former Defense Secretary under him Hemasiri Fernando.
Former Defense Secretary had resigned from his post last week following president's request to do so.
