Speaker Has Accepted MP.Mahinda Rajapakshe As Opposition Leader

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya has today
(18)announced in Parliament he will accept Opposition MP Mahinda Rajapak she as the Opposition Leader .

MP Rajapakshe who had recently appointed as prime Minister illegally by President Maithripala Sirisena and later removed through a court order has been appointed as opposition leader as his party have the majority of members in opposition Speaker has stressed.

Speaker has also accepted Opposition MP Mahinda Amaraweera as the Chief Opposition Whip.

Parliament has convened today at 1 p.m under the patronage of Speaker Jayasuriya .

UNP LEADER Ranil Wikramasinghe Sworn in As Premier Yesterday (16)-Conducted A Mass Rally This Evening To Celebrate Democracy

Ranil Wikramasinghe has yesterday (16) sworn in as Prime Minister for the fifth time before President Maithripala Sirisena at Presidential Secratariet in  Colombo .

He had been invited to Swearing In as premier by Prrsident Maithripala Sirisena, after the Supreme Court has decided to keep the interim order issued by Court of Appeal suspending the premiership of former President Mahinda Rajapakshe further last friday  (14).

Premier Ranil Wikramasinghe was ousted from premiership of good governance government  illegally against the Constitution by President Sirisena  on 26 th of of October. Although President has ousted hin as premier ,Ranil Wikramasinghe didn't leave the prime Mimisters official residence Temple Trees .

A mass rally of public to support the victory achieved through the court orders against Constitutional coup held this evening under the title "Victory of Justice " (17)at Galle Face .United National Front Has organized this rally .

Without A General Election No Need To Continue As Prime Minister -Former President Mahinda Rajapakshe

Former President Mahinda Rajapakshe
has told the United People's Freedom Alliance  (UPFA) MP's who had arrived in his official Residence at Wijerama Road in Colombo -07   he has resigned from premier post as has no intention to hold Prime Minister Post without a General Election .

Adressing the gathering after signing the letter of his resignation from.premier post, Former President Rajapakshe has stressed he has decided to resign from premiership post to pave the way for president to appoint a new Prime Minister at this stage .

The former President has signed the resignation letter amidst the chanting of pIrith by Bhikkus .
