A Medical Students Protest Closed The Parliamentary Roundabout

The Parliamentary Road had been temporarily closed from Diyatha Uyana this morning (20) due to a protest campaign launched by the State Medical Faculty students attached to the Medical Faculty Students Action Committee in front of the Parliamentary Roundabout .
Due to this situation a heavy traffic has been reported  from roads around the area as the Motorists are advised to use an alternative routes  it has been reported .

The protest march was held as a protest against the  Amendment act  that was presented to the Parliament today on recruiting SAITM Students to the Sir John Kotalawala Defense University.

A Manager And Female Sex Workers Attached To A Brothel House Maintained On The Pretext Of A SPA Were Arrested

A 26 year old youth Manager and 08 female sex workers have been arrested by a Police Team attached to the Panadura Walana Anti Corruption Unit during a raid carried out in a Brothel House maintained on the pretext of a Ayurveda Massage Center(SPA) at Negambo Road Kandana this morning (20).

The arrested females are of the ages 32-36 years and residents of Kimbulapitiya,Kolambageara,Kotuwagoda,Seeduwa and Nuwara-Eliya areas it has been revealed.

 The raid was carried out as per a search warrant obtained from Wattala Magistrate Court and the arrested females and the male are due to be produced before the court today.

Kandana Police are investigating over the incident.

A Buddhist Monk Was Injured Due To A Wild Elephant Attack

A Buddhist Bhikku(Monk)  was  injured and hospitalized due to a Wild Elephant attack at Wewelketiya in Madawachchiya-Anuradhapura early this morning (20) it has been reported.

The Injured Bhikku was admitted to the Anuradhapura General Hospital for treatment and his condition is not serious according to the reports.He had faced this incident while on the way to the Temple after arriving Wewelketiya from Colombo.
