A Special Parliamentary Debate Begun At Parliament Over The Current Political Situation

A Special Parliamentary Debate on the current uncertain Political Situation of the country is scheduled to be held from 4 p.m to 7 p.m this evening(19).

sri lanka parliament සඳහා පින්තුර ප්‍රතිඵලThe Party Leaders have decided to hold this debate following the request made by the Joint Opposition MP Dinesh Gunawardane.The Parliament which convened for the first time after the recently concluded Local Government Elections had adjourned for 15 minutes to hold the Party Leaders meeting to decide on the debate after request was made.

Meanwhile it has been reported that a petition signed by 20 Joint Opposition MP's was also handed over to the Speaker Karu Jayasuriya requesting a debate over the Political crisis.

A Person Was Arrested With 16,000 Illegal Cigarette Sticks In Possession At The Airport

arrested සඳහා පින්තුර ප්‍රතිඵලAirport Customs Officers  had arrested a 42 year old person who had illegally brought around 16,000 foreign made Illegal Cigarette sticks to the country from Singapore yesterday (18) at the Katunayake ,Bandaranaike International Airport.

The illegally brought Cigarette Sticks were concealed inside the luggage of the suspect and the stock is worth around Rs.800,000 according to the customs.

The Customs had confiscated the stock of illegal Cigarette sticks and released the suspect who is a resident of Grandpass area on Rs.50,000 bail it has been reported.

A Youth Was Killed And Another Critically Injured Due To A Road Accident

A Youth was killed and a Three Wheeler Driver was critically injured and hospitalized after the Three Wheeler they were traveling in falling down in to a 150 foot deep precipice at Ruwanpura in Nawalapitiya area.
The critically injured Three Wheeler driver was admitted to the Nawalapitiya Base Hospital for treatment.
The accident had occurred as a result of the liquor influence of Three Wheeler  according to the Nawalapaitiya Police.
