Cabinet Has Decided To Temporarily Suspend The Asbestos Ban

Cabinet has decided to temporarily  suspend the
decision taken regarding the ban the use of Asbestos which is scheduled to be imposed with effect from 01st of January 2018.

Earlier government has decided to ban the importing of raw materials  to manufacture the Asbestos products with effect from 01st of January 2018 and to ban the use of Asbestos products completely in the country by the year 2020.

Russia is one of the major countries supplying raw materials to Sri Lanka to manufacture Asbestos products and a rumour is spreading in the political circles that the government's decision to ban the importing of Asbestos raw materials led in to the tea ban imposed by Russia on Sri Lanka.

Two Youth Were Killed And Another Two Were Critically Injured Due To A Motorcycle Collision

The Critically injured pillion riders of the two Motorcycles involved in the collision were admitted to Kilinochchi Hospital for treatment.

The deceased had been identified as residents of Jaffna and Kilinochchi areas of the ages 27 and 22 years respectively.
