A Motorcyclist Was Killed After His Motorcycle Colliding With A Lorry

A 30 year old Motorcyclist was killed after the Motorcycle he was riding toppled over the road due to the uncontrollable speed and colliding with Lorry arrived in front of the road at Maduwegedara on Nittambuwa-Attanagalle main road.

The critically injured Motorcyclist had succumbed to his injuries after admission to the Wathupitiwala Hospital for treatment.The Motorcycle was traveling from Nittambuwa to Attanagalle at the time of the accident.

The deceased had been identified as a resident of Urapola,Nittambuwa area.

Engine Drivers To Launch An Island Wide Continuous Strike From Midnight Tomorrow

Engine Drivers are due to launch an Island Wide continuous strike from midnight tomorrow (06) night according to the Locomotive Operating Engineers Drivers Union.

The Strike will be launched against the mechanism  to recruiting Assistant Engine Drivers to Railways Department according to the Union.

A Fisherman Was Killed Due To A Lightning In Mid Sea Area

A fisherman was killed due to a s trucked by lightning while fishing in the mid sea area just a nautical mile away from Devinuwara  Beach it has been reported.

However the fellow fisherman in the Boat where the deceased Fisherman was in at the time of the accident had escape unharmed but had suffered with a minor shock according to sources.

The deceased Fisherman was identified as a 66 year old resident of Hummana Road,Devinuwara.

A 36 Year Old Person Was Critically Injured And Hospitalized Due To A Gun Shooting At Hikkaduwa

A 36 year old person has been critically injured and hospitalized due to a Gun Shooting incident  at Kumarakanda area in Hikkaduwa (Southern Province) this noon(05).

The injured person had been admitted to the Arachchikande  Hospital with injuries and taker transferred to the Intensive Care Unit of the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital for treatment.

Two Unidentified persons arrived in a Motorcycle had shot at the person who came to Kumarakande area from Anuradhapura to a requirement of his.The reason behind the Gun shooting has not yet been revealed.

Police are currently investigating  to arrest the two suspects who were responsible for the Gun shooting.
