Former President's Secretray Lalith Weerathunge And Anusha Palpita Have Been Sentenced Three Year Rigorous Imprisonment

Colombo High Court has today(07) sentenced former Secretary to the President Lalith Weerathunge and former director of Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (TRC) Anusha Palpita a three year rigorous imprisonment each and imposed a fine of Rs.20 million each  over distributing white cloths (Sil Redhi) to devotees of temples by utilized funds belonging to the TRC during previous presidential elections.

By delivering the verdict Colombo High Court Judge Gihan Kulathunge has also advised the two accused to pay Rs.50 million each as compensation to the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission before 20th of September.

The court verdict was delivered after both Lalith Weerathunge and Anusha Palpita found guilty over the white cloths  issue.

Around Rs.600 million belonging to the TRC had spent to distribute white cloths among devotees it has been revealed.

The main suspect of the Central Bank bond scam issue Arjun Aloysius of Perpetual treasuries had recieved details of  Cope committee through the kanishka senanayake the  son of Former MP and COPE committee member Rosy Senanayake it has been revealed.

This has been revealed when the Presidential commission inquiring on Central Bank Bond scam met yesterday (06),

During the meeting it has been also revealed that Arjun Aloysius was well informed on the confidential details of Central Bank regarding the Controversial bond scam.

Landslide Warnings Issued To Three Disricts

Due to the heavy showers prevailing in National Building Research Organization (NBRO)has today (06)further extended the landslide warnings issued to three districts for another 24 hours.

Accordingly landslide warnings issued to Galle,Kalutara and Ratnapura districts have been further extended.

Residents in these areas are advised to be on vigilant over landslide signs.

Meanwhile many districts have experienced heavy showers including Colombo and as a result several roads are inundated .

A Running Motorcycle Was Destroyed Due to A Fire

A running motorcycle was completely destroyed this evening (06)after it caught a sudden  fire in banyon area at Maskeliya.

Police officers attached to the Maskeliya police have doused the fire.

The motorcyclist was escape unharmed  it has been reported.Police believed a technical fault might have caused the fire.

A 40 Year Old Motorcyclist Was Killed Due To A Road Accident

A 40 year o;d motorcyclist was killed after the motorcycle he was driving colliding with a Bus at Minneriya in Polonnaruwa early this morning(06).

The deceased had been identified as a resident of Undukala,Habarana area.
