Former President's Secretray Lalith Weerathunge And Anusha Palpita Have Been Sentenced Three Year Rigorous Imprisonment

Image result for court orderColombo High Court has today(07) sentenced former Secretary to the President Lalith Weerathunge and former director of Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (TRC) Anusha Palpita a three year rigorous imprisonment each and imposed a fine of Rs.20 million each  over distributing white cloths (Sil Redhi) to devotees of temples by utilized funds belonging to the TRC during previous presidential elections.
By delivering the verdict Colombo High Court Judge Gihan Kulathunge has also advised the two accused to pay Rs.50 million each as compensation to the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission before 20th of September.
The court verdict was delivered after both Lalith Weerathunge and Anusha Palpita found guilty over the white cloths  issue.
Around Rs.600 million belonging to the TRC had spent to distribute white cloths among devotees it has been revealed.
