Two Armed Men Have Been Injured After A Gun Shooting Between Armed Gang And ST.F Personal

Two persons belonging to an Armed gang were injured
and hospitalized after a gun shooting incident occurred between the Armed gang and Special Police Task Force (STF)personal in kurana,Negambo this evening (12).

The two injured Armed gang members one of them critically  had been admitted to the seeduwa hospital for treatment and later they were transfered to the Ragama Teaching Hospital it has been reported.

After the shooting STF personal Had arrested two Armed gang members.

The Armed gang arrived in from two vans have opened fire at a Jeep belonging to the Special Police Task Force (STF)Personal ,however none of the STF Personal in the Jeep  have been  injured in the shooting .

Special Police Task Force Personal have later recovered two T-56 riffles and a revolver inside the two vans the Armed gang arrived in and taken into custody the two vans for an investigation.

Lawyers Of Former Sri Lankan Ambassador To Russia Wants The Court To Recall The Arrest Warrent And Travel Ban Imposed On Their Client

The lawyers of the former Sri Lankan Ambassador to
Russia Udayanga Weerathunge had yesterday (11)requested the Colombo Fort Magistrate Court to recall the arrest warrant issued and foreign travel ban imposed on their client over involving in a controversial purchasing of MIG Aircrafts  to Sri Lanka during previous government.

The Lawyers of the former Sri Lankan Ambassador to Russia have stated before the Fort Magistrate that the court imposed a foreign travel ban on  their client without examining facts produced before the court properly.

However Fort Magistrate had informed the lawyers that a decision regarding their request will be announced on 21st of August after examining the facts further .

Health Ministry Recruited 3020 Newcomers For Nurses And Family Health Officer Training

Ministry of Health has yesterday (11)recruited 3020
newcomers to train as  Nurses and Family Health Officers in view of addressing the shortage of Nurses and Family Health Officers (Midwives) faced by Government Hospitals at present.

Accordingly letters had been handed over to the 2250 for Nurses training  and 754 for Family Health Officer training at a ceremony held under the patronage of Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne at the Temple Trees yesterday (11).
