Hambanthota,Magampura Harbour To Be Handed Over To A Chinese Company Today

An agreement to hand over the Hambanthota
,Magampura Harbor to a Chinese Private Company " China Merchant"  on lease is due to be signed today (29) at the Ministry of Ports and Shipping at 10.30 a.m .

The Magampura port is due to hand over to the Chinese Company for a period of 99 years under the agreement and the total investment of the project is US Dollars 112 billion.

Meanwhile a protest campaign against the agreement waa held yesterday (28)at Hambanthota organized by All ceylon ports employees association and a similar protest is currently on in front of Khan clock tower in Colombo Fort according to the association.

Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe has stated yesterday (28)that the agreement will helpful to reduce the current mount of debt faced by  the country and a similar agreement will be signed regarding the Mattala International Airport as well.

Bond Commission Has Ordered Perpetual Treasuries Limited To Hand Over An Information Regarding Institutes It Bought Shares Recently

Bond Commission inquiring on the Bond scam of the
Central Bank has ordered the company belonging to the main suspect of the Bond scam Arjun Aloysias ,Perpetual Treasuries Limited to hand over an information on the list of institutes that the company bought shares after the controversial Bond scam to the Commission before 02nd of August .

Accordingly Judge Prasanna Jayawardane of the Commission had ordered the Perpetual Treasuries to hand over the information of Liquor Manufacturing company W.M Mendis,National Development Bank,the Electronic media company Asia Voice Network ,"Siyatha" Television And Radio Channels and the newly formed media company publish "Janayugaya" newspaper Intergrated media network to the commission.

The Judge given permission to the attorneys appear before the Commission behalf of Perpetual Treasuries to submit the requisite information directly to the Registrar of the Commission.

Disaster Management Center Issued Warnings To Nuwara Eliya And Kandy Over Landslides

Disaster Management Center has advised the people
living in hill areas of Nuwara Eliya and Kandy districts  to be vigilant over landslides due to the heavy showers prevailing in the central hill areas at present.

Due to heavy showers and strong winds in central hills several houses in Badulla and Diyathalawa  have been damaged caused by tree falls during last few days.

A Ruhunu University Student Arrrsted Over Grabbing Camera Chip Belonging To The Police

Dikwella Police have yestrday (28)arrested a student attached to the Arts faculty of the Ruhunu University
W.A.Lahiru over grabbing a chip of a camera belonging to the Police during an Anti SAITM Protest campaign.

After being produced before the Matara Magistrate Court the suspected student had been remanded until 11th of August.
