Galle Road Was Temporarily Closed Due To A Vehicle Protest Organized By University Students

Image result for vehicle protest clipartThe Galle road was closed down temporarily at Gall Face Junction in Colombo this noon (17)due to a Vehicle Protest parade organized by Inter University Students Federation (IUSF)against the Malabe Private Medical Collage(SAITM) underway at the moment.

The Vehicle Protest Parade which began on 15th of February from five cities in the island namely Anuradhapura ,Rathnapura ,Karapitiya,Kuliyapitiya and Kandy has now reached Colombo it has been reported .

Police have earlier stated that a heavy traffic will be experienced from 12 noon to 3 p.m today on Galle Road/Kandy Road,Highlevel Road and Negambo roads due to the Protest .After 3 p.m public is warned that traffic may prevails in Colombo Fort,Hulftsdorf,Lotus Road ,Olcott Mawatha and Maradana Road as the protestors due to gather in front of the Colombo Fort Railway station.

Two Tourists Were Injured And Hospitalized After A Coconut Tree Fallen On Them

Two British Nationals were injured and hospitalized last afternoon(16) after a Coconut Tree had fallen towards them outside a Tourist Hotel in Kammala Area,Wennappuwa.

A Coconut Tree located near the Swimming Pool of the Tourist Hotel fallen towards the two tourists it has been reported.

Prices Of 38 Varities Of Cataract Eye Lenses To Be Reduced With Effect From Midnight Tonight(17)

Displaying DSC_5111.JPGThe prices of 38 varieties of Cataract Eye Lenses in the local market use for Cataract Surgeries have reduced by Rs.10,000 to Rs.29,000 with effect from midnight tonight(17) according to the Minister Of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Dr.Rajitha Senaratne.

Addressing a press conference held in Health Ministry Auditorium this morning(17) Health Minister has stressed that the special Gazette Notification on reducing prices of Cataract Eye Lenses will be issued midnight tonight.

Minister has last week instructed the Health Ministry Secretary Anura Jayawikrama to print the Gazette Notification regarding this.

Prices of Cataract Eye Lenses are being reduced to benefit the government and private hospital patients undergoing Cataract surgeries Minister has stated.

Addressing the conference Dr.Manjula Batuwatte of Ophthalmologists(Eye Surgeons) Association has said that minister's decision to reduce the prices of Cataract Lenses is a good move the Association hopes other equipment using  for eye surgeries in government hospitals too provided free of charge in near future.

Two Youths Were Killed Due To A Motor Cycle Accident

Two youths were killed in the wee hours of this morning (17) as the Motor Cycle they were riding in veered off the road at Godigamuwa ,Kandaketiya area .

The deceased who were on their way to Galauda area at the time of the accident had been  identified as 21 and 22 year old residents of Hali-Ela and Mailagastenna areas.

The accident occurred as the Motor Cyclist not able to control the speed of the vehicle according to the Police.
