Railway Trade Unions Withdrawn From The Scheduled Island Wide Strike Today(01)-Private Bus Unions To Go Ahead With The Strike

strike සඳහා පින්තුර ප්‍රතිඵලThe Railway Trade Unions have announced this evening that they will not taking part in the island wide strike of public transport services scheduled to be launched midnight tonight following the discussions held with President Maithripala Sirisena.

According to the Joint Railway Trade Unions Front they have received solutions for the demands during the discussion held with president.

However the Private Bus Trade Unions led by All Ceylon Private Bus Owners Association have decided to go ahead with their island wide strike action from midnight tonight against the budget proposal on  increasing of  minimum traffic fine to Rs.2500 .

Police Recovered 25 Kilo Grammes Of Kerala Cannabis From Kalpitiya

Police officers attached to the special crimes]investigations division in puttalam division had recovered  25 kilo grammes of Kerala Cannabis buried in a land at kandakkuliya,Kalpitiya area(North Western Province).

During the raid a person in the land fled  away from the area it has been reported,

The police officers carried out the raid had handed over the stock of recovered Kerala Cannabis to the Kalpitiya police for further investigations.

Puttalam Police have launched a search operation to arrest the person fled away during the raid.


Sri Lanka To Commemorate World AIDS Day With AIDS Day Walk

Tomorrow is  "World AIDS Day ".Globally World AIDS
Day will be commemorated  tomorrow  under the theme " Handsup For HIV Prevention.

Since the first AIDS Patient was detected around 88 million HIV Positives had been reported globally and around 35 million died from HIV/AIDS up to now according to the statistics.

Like in other countries Sri Lanka too commemorate  this day tomorrow with a AIDS Day walk begins from Ministry Of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine in Colombo to Campball park grounds - Colombo and holding the national AIDS Day commemorative  at the grounds.

Around 2500 health officials and activists are due to participating in  this walk begins in front of the Health Ministry at 8.30 a.m tomorrow according to the National STD/AIDS Control programme.

At the national AIDS Day commemorative scheduled to he held in Campball Park tomorrow morning a national stratagic communication initiative and the  road map for the activities related to stop spreading HIV/AIDS  in Sri Lanka by the year 2025 will be launched.
