An Increase Of 10,584 Dengue Pathients This Year Than In Last Year

Image result for dengueThere's an increase of 10,584 Dengue Patients during eight and half months in this year(January to Mid September) when compared to last year(2015) according to the Epidemiology Unit attached to the Ministry Of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine.

Accordingly a total number of 40,361 Dengue Patients has been reported  from island wide this year  and there are 65 Dengue Deaths the Ministry has stated.However only 29,777 Dengue Patients had  been reported during the last year(2015) .

Out of the total number of Dengue Patients reported from this year 6674 patients had been reported from Colombo District it has been reported.

New Drug Prices Reduction Mechanism To Be Introduced During The Professor Bibile Commemorative On This Friday

Image result for drugsThe new Drug prices reduction mechanism prepared by the Independent Drug Regulatory Authority is  to be introduced during  the Professor Senaka Bibile Commemorative Ceremony scheduled to be held at Sri Lanka Foundation Institute -Colombo on this Friday(23).

The Drugs which are subjected to be reduced under the National Medicinal Drug Policy will officially  announce at the ceremony according to the Ministry Of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine.

Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has announced this in Parliament yesterday  (20) .Earlier the Drug Prices Reduction Mechanism is due to be introduced on 31st of August but it delayed due to some technical problems occurred when preparing the mechanism according to the Drug Regulatory Authority.

Professor Priyadarshani Galappaththi is due to deliver the Professor Senaka Bibile Commemorative S peach at the commemorative ceremony.

Signing Of A Public Petition To Force Government To Implement 90% Tax Increase On Cigarettes Underway At Buttala

A signing of a public  petition to force the government to implement the proposed 90% tax increase on Cigarettes is currently underway at the common market and bus stand in Buttala ,Monaragala District according to the "Pudina Mal" Organization comprising with relatives of those who died due to smoking related diseases in Sri Lanka.

The first step of the signing this public petition has taken place in Anuradahapura  last week.

Lotus Road In Colombo Fort Has Been Closed Due To A Protest March

Police have advised the motorists to use alternatives routes due to this situation.

Ceylon Petroleum Corporation Will Incur a Loss Of. Rs.Two Billion Per Month. Due To The Increase Of Excise Duty Of Diesel-Minister Of Petroleum Resources

Due to the increase of  excise duty imposed on Diesel ,The state owned Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) will incur a loss of around  Rs.2 billion per month according to the Minister Of Petroleum Resources Chandima Weerakkody.

As the Finance Ministry has increased the excise duty imposed  on Diesel  by Rs.three per liter from,Rs.ten per liter of Diesel  to Rs.thirteen with effect from 20th of August without increasing the retail price of the Diesel  the loss has incurred the Minister has stated.

Local production too affected due to the tax as  the 50,000 barrel per day local oil production is taxed  he has stressed.
