Supreme Court Directed The Bribery Commission To File Contempt Charges Against UPFA MP Namal Rajapakshe

The Supreme Court has today(15) directed the Bribery Commission to file contempt charges against United Peoples Freedom Alliance(UPFA) MP Namal Rajapakshe on or before 03rd of October.

The directive has made when the case filed against MP Rajapakshe who is the eldest son of former President Mahinda Rajapakshe by the Bribery Commission on MP's failure to give a statement regarding an ongoing investigation instead of being summoned by the Commission.

The case was taken up today for hearing before a three member bench of judges  chaired by Chief Justice K.Sripavan.The case was postponed until 14th of October 2016.

Four Persons Were Killed And Two Injured And Hospitalized Due To A Van-Bus Collision

Four persons including the driver of a Van were killed and another two were wounded and hospitalized due to a Van-Bus collision occurred at Palai in Kilinochchi(Northern Province) area early this morning.

The injured were admitted to the Kilinochchi Hospital for treatment.

The accident was occurred when a  Van traveling from Kilinochchi to Jaffna had collided with a Bus traveling from Mathugama to Jaffna it has been reported.

Joint Opposition MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage Has Been Remanded Until 22nd Of September

Joint Opposition MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage who was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department(CID) this morning over the money laundering charges has been remanded until 22nd of September by the Colombo Chief Magistrate this evening.

The MP has been remanded after he was produced before the Chief Magistrate.

MP Aluthgamage who was the Sports Minister of the previous government was arrested this morning after he arrived in CID Headquarters to give a statement regarding charges against him.

CID has today informed the Court that MP Aluthgamage had  purchased a luxury house from Kynsey Road in Colombo-07 by spending Rs.27 million earned through unlawfully.

Around 26 Persons Were Injured Due To A Paasenger Bus-Truck Collision On Southern Expressway

Around 26 persons including 14 females  were injured and hospitalized as a passenger bus traveling from Colombo to Galle had crashed with a truck involving  in maintenance work at 26th KM Post between Galanigama and Dodangoda interchanges on the Southern Expressway this noon.

The truck was parked on the road at the time of the accident and several workers involved in maintenance work there received critical injuries as a result of the accident according to the Police.
