Hearing Of The Court Case Filed Against MP Wimal Weerawansha Postponed Until Next Year
The hearing of the court case filed agsinst Joint Opposition MP Wimal Weerawansha regarding allegedly attempting to travel abroad through an expired Diplomatic Passport has been postponed until 02nd of February 2017 by the Negambo Magistrate Court today it has been reported.
The court has postponed the case after the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has requested the court to allocate more time to obtain certain evidence regarding the incident.

Sri Lanka Has Received Childhood Tetanus Elimination Certificatte From WHO
World Health Organization (WHO) has named Sri Lanka as a country free from childhood Tetanus and awarded a certificate regarding elimination of the disease on last Tuesday (06) during the on going South East Asia Regional Health Ministers Summit.
Accordingly the Director General Of WHO Dr.Margaret Chan has handed over the childhood Tetanus free certificate to Minister Of Health Dr.Rajitha Senaratne last Tuesday at Galle Face Hotel in Colombo.
The Tetanus is a disease spreading among newly born infants as a result of poor hygiene and safety practices adapted by mothers during the delivery WHO has stated.
Through a continuous Immunization Programme carried out among mothers , Sri Lanka has managed to eliminate the Tetanus and as a result no new Tetanus Patient among children have been reported from the island during last few years it has been revealed.

Bribery Commission Has Filed A Court Case Against Former Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage
The Bribery Commission has today (08)filed a court case against former Minister Of Sports and current MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage over distribution of an equipment worth Rs.53 million to selected schools and sports club for political purpose during his tenure in office as the Sports Minister.
The former Minister Aluthgamage has been issued a notice to appear before the court on 27th of September.

Mount Lavinia Magistrate Has Ordered To Exhume The Body Of Assassinated Former Sunday Leader Editor
The Mount Lavinia Magistrate Court has today (08) ordered the exhumation of the remains of assassinated former editor of the Sunday Leader Paper Lasantha Wikramathunge on 27th of September from his Burial Grounds at Borella Cemetery.
Mount Lavinia Magistrate has made this order as per the request made by Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to exhume the body of the former Editor who was shot and killed while on his way to office on January 2009.
CID has requested the court to exhume the body of assassinated former editor due to contradictions arrived among st Autopsy Report of the victim ,Surgeons Report and Government Analyst's Report on the murder it has been reported.
Army Intelligence Officer was arrested and remanded over the killing of the victim.

Five Persons Sentenced To Death Over Bharatha Lakshman's Murder -Judges Given A Divided Judgment
The trial at bar comprising three judges of the Colombo High Court who had sentenced five persons to death over the murder of former UPFA MP Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra and three others today (08)has given a divided Judgment as the president of the bar High Court judge Shiran Gunaratne wants all 13 charged over the murder to release on bail.
However as other two judges in the Trial At Bar Pahmini Ranawake and C.B.S Moraias given the verdict as five persons including former MP Duminda Silva sentenced to death while eight other accused released on bail.
Meanwhile As the suspects were sent to the prison the Attorneys of former MP Duminda Silve has stated that they will appeal against today's decision.
