Two Youth Were Killed Due To A Car-Lorry Collision

Two youth were killed as the car they were traveling in collided with a Lorry this evening on the Puttalam-Anuradhapura Road it has been reported.

The deceased are identified as residents in Puttalam District.

Court Case Filed Against Former LTTE Media Spokesman Daya Master Has Been Postponed

The court case filed against the former Media Spokesman of the LTTE Organization Daya Master at Vavuniya High Court has been postponed today (06)until 28th of September as the Attorney General not yet submitted the report on allegation leveled against Daya Master.

The case was filed against Daya Master charging that the LTTE had used human shields during the war against Sri Lanka Army when he was a member of the organization. 

Two Accused Regarding The Floating Armory Had Been Arrested And Later Bailed Out

Bribery Commission has arrested Major General Palitha Fernando and chairman of Avant Guarde Security Services Private Limited Nissanka Senadhipathi this evening regarding the controversial floating armory .

However they were released on bail after being produced before the Colombo Magistrate Court.

Bribery Commission has earlier filed legal cases against former Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapakshe and seven others for unlawfully authorizing  establishing of floating armory and Brigadier Palitha Fernando   and Nissanka Senadipathi are among the eight accused persons.

Army Officer Has Drowned And Disappeared In Mount Lavinia

An Army Officer has drowned and disappeared while sea bathing along with few others at Mount Lavinia Sea Area it has been reported.

Another person has also drowned with the Army Officer but he was later rescued and the Officer had disappeared Police have stated.

Life Saving Unit of the Mount Lavinia Police have launched a search operation to find out the drowned person it has been reported.

Sri Lanka Navy Personal Arrested Three Local Fishermen While Illegally Fishing In Eastern And Northern Seas

Sri Lanka Navy Personal have arrested three local fishermen while engaging in illegal fishing with  banned fishing nets in Kaththankudi(Eastern Province) and Waleipadu (Northern Province) Sea Areas according to the Navy.

Accordingly Navy Personal have arrested two local fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing with banned mono filament fishing nets in the seas off Kaththankudi and the arrested fishermen along with their equipment were handed over to the Batticaloe Fisheries Inspector for further investigations.

Navy Officers have arrested another fisherman while illegally fishing with banned fishing nets in sea area of Waleipadu and handed over to the Mannar Fisheries Inspector for further investigations.

World Health Organization Has Named Sri Lanka As A Malaria Free Nation

World Health Organization(WHO) has named Sri Lanka as a country free from Malaria Disease and awarded the Malaria Elimination Certificate short while ago at the Galle Face Hotel in Colombo during the ongoing South East Asia Regional Health Minister's Summit.

The Director General of WHO Dr.Margret Chan had presented the Malaria Elimination Certificate to the Si Lanka's Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne .

Sri Lanka has made a request from WHO to name the country as a Malaria free nation as during last three years no Malaria Patient who contacted the disease locally reported from the country. 

Three research teams attached to World Health Organization has visited Sri Lanka in three occasions during last three years to inspect the local Malaria Control Activities the Ministry of Health has announced.
