Sri Lanka Navy Personal have arrested three local fishermen while engaging in illegal fishing with banned fishing nets in Kaththankudi(Eastern Province) and Waleipadu (Northern Province) Sea Areas according to the Navy.Accordingly Navy Personal have arrested two local fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing with banned mono filament fishing nets in the seas off Kaththankudi and the arrested fishermen along with their equipment were handed over to the Batticaloe Fisheries Inspector for further investigations.
Navy Officers have arrested another fisherman while illegally fishing with banned fishing nets in sea area of Waleipadu and handed over to the Mannar Fisheries Inspector for further investigations.
