World Health Organization(WHO) has named Sri Lanka as a country free from Malaria Disease and awarded the Malaria Elimination Certificate short while ago at the Galle Face Hotel in Colombo during the ongoing South East Asia Regional Health Minister's Summit.
The Director General of WHO Dr.Margret Chan had presented the Malaria Elimination Certificate to the Si Lanka's Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne .
Sri Lanka has made a request from WHO to name the country as a Malaria free nation as during last three years no Malaria Patient who contacted the disease locally reported from the country.
Three research teams attached to World Health Organization has visited Sri Lanka in three occasions during last three years to inspect the local Malaria Control Activities the Ministry of Health has announced.
