Two Were Killed And Ten Others Injured Due To A Wild Elephant Attack At Anuradhapura

Two persons including a  five year old boy were killed and ten others injured  as a  wild elephant had attacked the van they were travelling in at Karuwalagaswewa Area in Anuradhapura District in the wee hours this morning.

The twelve persons in the van were on their way to Katunayake Air Port to leave for Canada when the attack occurred.

According the reports one person had died before admitted to hospital and the five year old boy had succumbed to his injuries after hospitalized due to the wild elephant attack occurred on Puttalam-Anuradhapura road ,near the mee oya bridge around 2 .20a.m this morning.

The injured were rushed to the puttalam hospital but one person was died on the way it has been reported.The second of the deceased the five year old  boy was died after he was transferred to Colombo National Hospital from Puttalam Hospital in critical condition.

Two passengers were killed and nine got critically injured and hospitalized due to a deadly car-van collision occurred on puttalam road at arachichikattuwa area this morning.

The injured were admitted to the chilaw Hospital for treatment it has been reported.

The two who were killed had been identified as residents in Thilppalai,Jaffna and they were in the car at the time of the accident.

Colombo Fort Magistrate Issued A Notice On The Grand Mother Of Yoshitha Rajapakshe To Appear Before Court

The Colombo Fort Magistrate has today(26) issued a notice on the grand mother of yoshitha rajspakshe (Former president mahinda rajapakshe's second son) Daisy Forest to appear before the court on 31st of August to give a statement regarding a property in mount lavinia in connection with an ongoing investigation  .

The court has issued the notice as per the request made by police crimes financial investigations division (FCID) as the grand mother of yoshitha avoid giving a statement regarding the property case which is under investigation under the prevention of money laundering act.

The FCID had requested  the court to issue  a notice on yoshitha's grand mother as she was continuously avoided giving a statement regarding the property case.

Former Editor And His Wife Identified The Army Officer Who Had Assaulted The Editor

During the identification parade held at Gampaha  Magistrate Court today (26)the former Chief Editor of the Divaina and Rivira newspapers Mr.upali tennakoon and his wife had  identified the army officer who was accused over the assault on the former editor.

The former editor, his wife and another eye witness were present at the Gampaha Magistrate Court today to identify the accused.

After the assault which taken place on 23rd of September 2009 the former editor of Divaina and Rivira newspapers  had left the country along with his wife due to security reasons.
