The Six Percent Bus Fare Hike Has Come Into Effect From Today (01)

Image result for bus faresThe 6% bus fare increase approved by the Cabinet recently for private and sri lanka transport board (SLTB)buses  has come into effect from today (01).

Accordingly the minimum Rs.8  bus fare will be increased to Rs.9 and Rs.15 and Rs.16 bus fares will be increased to Rs.18 and Rs.20 respectively. .However the  Rs.12  bus fare will not be increased according to the sources.

The Kandy luxury bus service fare has increased to Rs.300 from today according to the National Transport Commission.

The expressway bus fares have been increased from today as well and accordingly the Maharagama-Galle bus fare will be increased from Rs.375 to Rs.390,Maharagama to Matara bus fare will be increased from Rs.445 to Rs.470 and Kaduwela-Matara bus fare will be increased to Rs.510.

Jana Satana Protest March Finally Reached Lipton Circus For The Final Rally

Image result for jana satana protestThe "Jana Satana"protest march launched by the Joint Opposition group which entered Colombo this evening now  has reached the Lipton Circus ,Colombo by passing the Hyde Park for the final rally it has been reported.

Due to the march a heavy traffic is now reported from Town Hall area.

The protest march which arrived in Colombo today was earlier scheduled to be started from Kandy but later it had been  started from Peradeniya on 28th of July due to a court order.

Image result for jana satana protestA heavy traffic has been reported along the Baseline Road in Colombo this evening as the Protest March  "Jana Satana" launched by the joint opposition group has entered the Dematagoda Area from two ends.

Due to the traffic occurred in Baseline Road motorists and commuters have faced enormous difficulties and a long vehicle Queue s have seen in the road for hours.As one side of the road has given for the protestors to go ahead with their Protest March pedestrians too faced enormous difficulties when crossing the road.


Some motorists have seen advising the police officers who are in duty at the road the way to handle the traffic .

The Protest which heading towards Hyde Park in Colombo  to hold it's final rally earlier due to arrive in Lipton circus in Colombo for the rally.

However the authorities have cancelled the reservation made by the Joint Opposition leaders to get Hyde Park for the final rally due to construction work of the park currently underway .

Although the authorities have given the Campbell Park as an alternative venue  for the final rally of the Protest March the joint Opposition  leaders have turned down the offer it has been reported.

Health Minister To Submit A Cabinet Paper Seeking Rs.1200 Million To Purchase Cancer Drugs For All Cancer Patients In Sri Lanka

Image result for ministry of health sri lankaThe Minister of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Dr.Rajitha Senaratne is due to submit a Cabinet Paper to the Cabinet soon regarding seeking Rs.1200 million to purchase the Cancer Drugs annually for all Sri Lankan Patients suffering from Cancers according to the Ministry Of Health.

As some essential Cancer Drugs are expensive as Rs.250,000 per vial, most of the Cancer Patients need Rs.50 to 60 lacks to purchase these drugs from private sector the Ministry has stated.Majority of these patients are not in a position to spend such prices to purchase Cancer Drugs the Ministry has revealed.

 According to the Health Ministry's police on providing Cancer Drugs free of charge for all Cancer Patients in Sri Lanka the Minister has decided to submit a Cabinet Paper as mentioned the Ministry sources have stated.

Colombo Fort Magistrate Has Refused To Issue Notices To 11 Joint Opposition MP's

The Colombo Fort Magistrate has today(01) refused the request made by Police to issue notices for 11 Joint Opposition MP'S who were continuing their protest against former Central Bank Governor near Regal Cinema Hall in Colombo by disobeying the court order. 

The Police have requested the Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne to issue notices against the 11 Joint Opposition MP's via speaker of the Parliament.

The Magistrate has refused the request of the Police by stating as the court order against the protest was not handed over to the protestors by Police as directed in Criminal Code Procedure she could not  issue notices as requested.
