A SchoolBoy Was Killed And Another Injured Due To Their Vehicle Veering Off The Road

A nine year old school boy was killed and a tri shaw driver got injured and hospitalized as the tri shaw they were in lost the control and veered off the road at pachchanur area  in Trincomalee-Batticloe main road yesterday(07) morning according to the police.

The Muththur Police are conducting an investigation on the accident.


Unprotected Railway Crossing Keepers Have Launched A Strike By Demanding the proposed Wage Hike

The unprotected railway crossings keepers island wide numbering around 2000 have launched a strike action  this morning by demanding the proposed wage hike for them.

According to the secretary of keepers of unprotected railway crossings association nimal chandrasiri authorities have failed to grant the proposed rs.5000 wage hike for them.

The department of railways have earlier advised the public including the motorists to be in alert when using unprotected railway crossings due to the strike.

Shop Owners In Hambanthota District Have Staged A Protest Against VAT Increase By Closed Their Shops

Due to the closure of shops daily activities in the District have paralyzed and consumers too faced hardships it has been reported.

The shop owners have staged a protest march against the VAT increase this evening.Government has increased VAT from 4% with effect from 02nd of May.
