Batticloe Magistrate Court Has Further Remanded The Former Chief Minister Of Eastern Province Pillayan Over The Killing Of EX MP

The Batticloe Magistrate Court has today(20) further remanded the former Chief Minister of Eastern Province Sivanasathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan until 04th of May over the killing of former MP attached to Tamil National Alliance(TNA) Joseph Pararajasingham.

The bail application filed on behalf of the former chief minister pillayan by his lawyers was rejected by Batticloe Magistrate when the case against him taken up today.

Pillayan was arrested by Criminal Investigations Department(CID) Officials on 11th of October 2015 after recorded a statement from him over the killing of former MP Pararajasingham who was murdered  at Saint Mary's Church in Batticloe on Christmas eve in 2005.

Sri Lankan Fast Bowler Lasith Malinga Appeared A Fitness Assessment Test At Cricket Board

Sri Lankan Fast Bowler Lasith Malinga has today(20) appeared before an expert panel of Doctors appointed by Sri Lanka Cricket Board for a fitness assessment  test.

The Fitness Test Report of Malinga is due to be issued on next Monday according to the Expert Panel of Doctors.

Sri Lanka Cricket Board has called Malinga for the Fitness Assessment Test as he went to India last week to join his Indian Premier League (IPL) Team ,Mumbai Indians without informing Sri Lanka Cricket Board while receiving treatment for his leg injury.

The Sri Lankan Fast Bowler however declared unfit for play Indian Premier League Cricket Match Series by the Physicians attached to Mumbai Indians Team who had tested him the Indian Media have reported.

CID Has Today(20) Arrested The Former Crimes OIC Of Narahenpita Police For Hiding Evidence Regarding Murder Of Former Rugby Player

The Criminal Investigations Department(CID) has today(20) arrested the former Crimes OIC of Narahenpita Police Station Sumith Perera over allegedly hiding the evidence regarding murder of Former Sri lankan Rugby Player Wasim Thajudeen according to the Police Media Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekare.

The former Crimes OIC of the Narahenpita Police was arrested by a  team of Officers attached to CID few hours ago ASP Gunasekare has stated.

The Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Pieris had instructed the CID recently to conduct   investigations as soon as possible on the death of former Sri Lankan Rugby Player Thajudeen who found dead inside his car on 17th of May 2012 at kirulapona(In Colombo).

President Has Appointed Senior DIG Pujitha Jayasundare As The New Inspector General Of Police

Earlier the Constitutional Council has nominated the Senior DIG Pujitha Jayasundara's name for the IGP Post.

Government To Exclude VAT From Electricity And Medicine-State Minister Of Finance Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena

Image result for vatThe government has decided to exclude the Value Added Tax (VAT) from electricity and medicine according to State Minister of Finance Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena.

Government has currently also discussing on not to increase the  Value Added Tax on water bills the State Minister has revealed..

However the proposed 4% VAT  increase will be imposed on Telecommunications,Private Health and Private Education sectors the Minister has revealed.

Government has earlier decided to increase the VAT from 11% to 15% with effect from 02nd of May including Electricity,Telecommunications and Health sectors.

However President Maithripala Sirisena has stated that he will not allow to implement any Tax that will be seriously affected the masses.
