National Police Commission Has Temporarily Suspended The Promotions Of All Police Officers

Image result for police commission of sri lankaThe National Police Commission has decided to temporarily suspend all the promotions of Police Officers with immediate effect.

According to the secretary of National Police Commission Ariyadasa Cooray this decision has been taken in view of preparations of making a new method for Police Officer's Promotions.The Police Commission has decided to make a new method for promotions by correcting the lapses of current promotions system he has said.

A new committee has been appointed to make the new method for promotions of police officers and  members of the committee are due to be appointed withing  coming week the Secretary of the Police Commission has further said.

One Person Killed And Two Others Injured Due To A Shooting Incident At Weerakatiya

One person killed and two were critically  injured due to a shooting incident occurred near Kirimatiya Junction at Weerakatiya Area(In Southern Province) this morning according to the Police.

The injured persons with life threatening injuries were admitted to the Tangalle(In Southern Province) District Hospital for treatment and the deceased have died upon admission to the Hospital the  Police have said.

A gunman who arrived from a Hybrid Van had opened the fire at two persons travelling in a Van and One person in Motor bicycle  at Kirimatiya Junction this morning and fled the scene soon after the shooting it has been reported.The deceased has been identified as the driver of the Van.

Police have a lunched a search operation to arrest the gunman.

TULF General Secretary Requested President Sirisena To Release Two Tamil Political Prisoners In Anuradhapura Prison

The General Secretary Of  Tamil United Liberation Front(TULF) V.Ananda Sangaree has requested   President Maithripala Sirisena to  immediately release the two Political Prisoners in Anuradhapura(In North Central Province) Prison who had conducted a hunger strike recently.

The two Tamil Political prisoners who were in hunger strike recently have taken into Police Custody under the terrorism prevention act on 2009 and during last 7 years they were only produced before the court but authorities still not able to file a case against them the TULF General Secretary has revealed through a letter sent to the President.

Ananda Sangaree has requested President to either release the two political prisoners or send them for a short term rehabilitation programme.

Meanwhile the two tamil political prisoners who were in hunger strike at Anuradhapura Prison for 6 days have ended their hunger strike yesterday after prison authorities assured them steps will be taking to proceed with their legal cases.
