One Killed And Five Got Injured And Hospitalized Due To A Van-Lorry-Wild Elephant Collision

One person had killed and five others have been injured and hospitalized this morning as the
van they were travelling in to Katunayake International Air Port collided with a turned back Lorry at Krauwalagaswewa(In North Western Province)Area which collided with a  wild elephant .

The lorry had turned back on the road after it was hit at a Wild Elephant walking on the road and the Van which arrived at that time has crashed to the turned back lorry the Police have said.

The van had transported a family members of a Sri Lankan Resided in Switzerland to the Katunayake Air Port when they  met with the accident police have said,

Soon after lorry had turned back on the road the Elephant had run away according to reports.

Foreign Employment Bureau Has Brought Back 104 Sri Lankans In Kuwait To The Country Due To Various Kind Of Harassment

The Foreign Employment Bureau has today(13) brought back 104 Sri Lankans who went for  Kuwait to Sri Lanka due to the various harassment they meted out to them.

The group of Sri Lankans brought back from Kuwait had stayed at "Suraksha Home" attached to Sri Lankan Embassy in Kuwait in past few months due to the harassment they have faced according to reports.

Not receiving employment according to the agreements ,Various kinds of physical harassment and overstaying visa problem are among the reasons for these Sri Lanakns to return to the country the reports said.

The majority of the returnees are females and they are from places like Anuradhapura,Polonnaruwa,Kurunagala,Galle,Trincomalee,Kandy and Batticloe the Foreign Employment Bureau has said.

Around 25 HIV/AIDS Positives Have Been Identified During Jnauary

Around 25 HIV/AIDS Positive Persons have been identified during the Month Of January this year according to the Director Of National Sexually Transmitted Diseases(STD)/AIDS Campaign Dr.Sisira Liyanage.
Majority of these patients are residents of Western Province and 65% of these HIV Positives are males Dr.Liyanage has said.

As the National STD/AIDS Campaign is carrying  out more and more blood tests throughout, the island  among the risk groups in the society the number of HIV Positives identifying are on the increase he has further said.

Central Committee Of The Sri Lanka Freedom Party Has Decided To Suspend Party Membership Of Seven Heads Of Local Government Bodies

The Central Committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party(SLFP) led by President Maithripala Sirisena has yesterday(12) decided to suspend the Party Membership of Seven heads of Local Government Bodies who have allegedly  acting against the Party and it's leadership with immediate effect.

The Central Committee of Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP)has also decided to commence disciplinary inquiries against these  Local Councillors sources said.

An urgent meeting of the SLFP Central Committee was held yesterday afternoon and during that meeting an unanimous  decision has taken not to agree any demands made by the joint opposition which supporting former president Mahinda Rajapakshe and seeking an independent representation at the Parliament.

SLFP Central Committee has also decided to take stern disciplinary action against any member goes against the party.
