An Emergency Three Day Island Wide Dengue Control Programme To Be Implemented From Today(11)

A three day emergency Dengue Control Programme will be implemented from today(11th) ,12th(Friday) and  13th Of February(Saturday) in Western Province and Seven Districts throughout the island identified as Dengue High Risk Zones as the spreading of Dengue in these areas is on the increase according to Ministry Of Health,Nutrition And Indigenous Medicine.

This emergency Dengue Control Programme will be implemented in Western Province and Seven Dengue High Risk Zone Districts namely Jaffna,Ampara,Batticloe,Puttalam,Kurunagala,Kegalle and Vavuniya with the assistance of National Dengue Control Programme,Sri Lanka Police,Tri Forces and Health Authorities the Ministry has said.

According to the latest survey carried out by Sri Lankan Entomologists ,Dengue Mosquito Larvae has bred in 54% of the Schools,36% of the Building and Construction Sites and 40% of the Religious Places in the island.

During the last month (January) 6199 Dengue Patients and 08 Dengue Deaths have been reported throughout the island and 319 Dengue Patients have been reported from the island during first ten days of this month.

A 72 Year Old Australian Male Drowned The Sea While Bathing Off Hikkaduwa Beach -Later Pronounced As Dead

A 72 year old Australian Male has drowned the Sea this morning off Hikkaduwa (In Southern Province)Beach while sea bathing according to the Hikkaduwa Police.

The victim had saved and rushed to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital where he was pronounced as dead upon admission to the Hospital.

The Body of the deceased is lying at the Karapitiya Hospital Mortuary  and Hikkaduwa Police are conducting an investigation on the incident.

Supreme Court Has Today Announced The Proposed "Theravada Kathikavatha" Bill Requires Approval Of Two Thirds Majority In Parliament And Public Referendum As It Contravenes With Constitution

Image result for supreme court srilankaThe Supreme Court has today(10) announced that the proposed "Theravada Bhikku Kathikawatha"(Dialogue For Buddhist Monks) Registration Bill contravenes the Constitution Of Sri Lanka and  therefore  Bill requires the  approval from two thirds majority in Parliament  and Public Referendum before getting enacted.

The Bill can be enacted with approval of normal majority in the Parliament if the sections which not agreed with the constitution are omitted the Supreme Court has today informed the Parliamentary Speaker Karu Jayasuriya.

The bill which was presented  by Minister Of Buddha Sasana and Justice Wijedasa Rajapakshe on 12th of January 2016 proposes to formulate and registration of Dialogue or Kathikawatha for all chapters(Nikaya's) of Theravada Bhikkus in Sri Lanka including to impose punishment for Bhikkus who are violating the provisions of Kathikavatha.

Constitutional Council Has Recommended President's Counsel Jayantha Jayasuriya For The Post Of Attorney General

The  Constitutional Council has today(10) recommended the name of President's Counsel Jayantha Jaysuriya for the post of Attorney General the Janatha Wimukthi Peramuna(JVP) MP Vijitha Herath has said.

President's Counsel Jayantha Jaysuriya who is also the additional solicitor general  of Attorney General's Department has been serving in Attorney General's Department  for 32 years and he is expected to be sworn in as the 29th Attorney General of Sri Lanka before President Maithripala Sirisena soon.

After 28th Attorney General of the country President's Counsel Yuvanjana Wijethilaka has retired from his post with effect from 10th of January this year ,President Maithripala Sirisena has appointed Presidents Counsel Suhada Gamlath as an Acting Attorney General with effect from 11th of January.

Imprisoned Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thero Has Been Further Remanded

Image result for court orderImprisoned General Secretary Of the Bodu Bala Sena Venerable Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thero has been further remanded until 16th of February by the Homagama Magistrate this evening over threatening of Sandhya Ekanaligoda the wife of missing cartoonist Prageeth Eknaligoda.

Gnanasara Thero has been further remanded after he has been produced before the Homagama Magistrate today(10).

However he has granted bail over the charge of contempt of court yesterday (09)morning.
