A three day emergency Dengue Control Programme will be implemented from today(11th) ,12th(Friday) and 13th Of February(Saturday) in Western Province and Seven Districts throughout the island identified as Dengue High Risk Zones as the spreading of Dengue in these areas is on the increase according to Ministry Of Health,Nutrition And Indigenous Medicine.
This emergency Dengue Control Programme will be implemented in Western Province and Seven Dengue High Risk Zone Districts namely Jaffna,Ampara,Batticloe,Puttalam,Kurunagala,Kegalle and Vavuniya with the assistance of National Dengue Control Programme,Sri Lanka Police,Tri Forces and Health Authorities the Ministry has said.

According to the latest survey carried out by Sri Lankan Entomologists ,Dengue Mosquito Larvae has bred in 54% of the Schools,36% of the Building and Construction Sites and 40% of the Religious Places in the island.
During the last month (January) 6199 Dengue Patients and 08 Dengue Deaths have been reported throughout the island and 319 Dengue Patients have been reported from the island during first ten days of this month.
