An Individual Had Robbed Rs.5.5 Million From A Private Bank

A person came from a motor bike had robbed Rs.5.5 million from a private bank at Dharmapala Mawatha (In Colombo City) this morning and fled away according to police.

The robber was covered his face with a helmet and attacked the security guard who was there in front of the bank and robbed  the money police have said.

The injured security guard has been admitted to Colombo National Hospital for treatment.The Criminal Investigations Department(CID) is conducting further investigations on the incident.

A Female Was Trampled To Death By Wild Elephant At Siyambalanduwa Area

A 80 year old female was trampled to death by a wild elephant in Galigamuwa at Siyambalanduwa (Up Country)this morning according to Police.The deceased female was a resident of Lassanagama,Galigamuwa.

The remains of the deceased have been removed to  Siyambalanduwa Hospital for autopsy the police have said.

Police Have Arrested Seven Persons In And Around Colombo With Heroin In Their Possesion

Police have arrested seven persons including a girl with nearly ten grammes of heroin in their possession from Mount Lavinia,Delkanda and Wattala(In Colombo District) areas.

The arrested persons are due to be  produced before the Magistrate Courts in Mount Lavinia,Gangodawila  and Wattala according to the police.

President Sirisena Met UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon In New York

President Maithripala Sirisena who is  now in New York,United States Of America to address the 70th sessions of the United Nations General Assembly had met UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon few hours ago and held talks with him.

Before the meeting with UN Secretary General ,President Sirisena had met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Singh Modi,Swiss President Simonetta Sommaruga and International Red Cross Society President Peter Maurer and conducted bi lateral talks with them according to the foreign media reports.

Sri Lankan President is due to address  the UN General Assembly on 30th Of September.
