President Sirisene To Implement Capital Punishment From Next Year If Parliament Gives Consent
Pressident Maithripala Sirisene has said today(18) he expects to implement the Capital Punishment from next year if the Parliament gives the consent.
Under the 1978 constitution the Executive President can implement the capital punishment and all he needs to do is put his signature to approve it.However President Sirisene has said that he wants the opinion of legislators when implementing the capital punishment.
President while addressing a meeting held today at Galle(Southern Sri Lanka) has stressed that if he put his signature to implement capital punishment without getting parliament approval human rights groups will intervene the scene on humanitarian grounds,
President's remarks on capital punishment came amidst society 's appeal to implement it to prevent child rapes .President has stated the many in the society were shocked due to the murder of the five year old girl Seya Sadewmini In Gampaha District and wants to do justice for her by implementing capital punishment .

DNA Samples Taken From The Body OF Five Year Old Girl Who Was Murdered Sent For A Test
The DNA Samples taken from the body of five year old girl who had been sexually molested and strangled to death by an unidentified person at kotadeniyawa in gampaha district (In Western Province)has been sent to Gene Tech Institute yesterday (16) for a test to identify the assassin of the girl.
According to the acting police media spokesman Priyantha Jayakody the assassin can be identified through the DNA Test.So far the police have been questioned from 15 people in connection with the murder and so far no arrests were made regarding the case police media spokesman has stated.
The Inspector General Of Police N.K.Ilangakoon has handed over the investigations on the girl's death to the Criminals Investigations Department(CID with immediate effect.
Meanwhile protests were held today (17) as well in most parts of the country against the cruel murder of five year old Seya Sadewmini and the protesters have urged the government to impose the capital punishment for child rapists.

According to new toll fees announced for Light Vehicles -Kaduwela To Kadawatha - Rs.100 , Kadawatha To Galle -Rs.500 and
Kadawatha To Matara-Rs.650.
Through the newly opened extension the motorists will be able to reach Matara from Colombo within one and half hours .
The 8.9 Kilo Meter Long second phase of the Outer Circular Highway from Kaduwela To Kadawatha which was built at the the cost of Rs.44 billion was inaugurated today under the patronage of Minister Of University Education And Highways Lakshman Kiriella.
The new Outer Circular Highway is connected to the Katunayake -Colombo Expressway,Southern Expressway,Colombo Northern Expressway and Colombo-Kandy Expressway.
