Police To Take A Disciplinary Action Against Six Police Officers Including OIC Of Kotadeniyawa Police

A Disciplinary Action will be taken against the Police Officers attached to Kotadeniyawa(In Western Province) Police Station including Officer In Charge (OIC) for arrested a Teenage School Student and another person wrongfully regarding the rape and murder of Five Year Old Seya Sadewmini according to the Department Of Police.

Based on the finding of Inquiry held regarding arresting two persons wrongfully the Police Department has taken steps to issue charge sheets to Kotadeniyawa Police OIC,An Inspector,A constable,Sargent and two Sub Inspectors of the Police,  Department Sources said.

Kotadeniyawa Police have arrested the two Individuals soon after the body of five year old Seya found a place near her home and later released them on bail.

Health Ministry Has Temporarily Banned Performing Of Kidney Transplants For Foreigners At Government And Private Hospitals



illegal kidney transplant issue sri lanka සඳහා පින්තුර ප්‍රතිඵලThe Ministry Of Health ,Nutrition And Indeginous Medicine has today(21) decided to temporarily ban the performing of Kidney Transplants to Foreigners at Government And Private Hospitals with immediatte effect.

This decision has been taken following the decision taken by Indian Police to filed cases against Six Sri Lankan Doctors who have performed around 60 Kidney Transplant Surgeries for Indian Nationals at four colombo based private hospitals by buying kidneys from poor indian villagers for money.

The Six Doctors namely Dr.Madhava,Dr.Monick,Dr.Niroshani,Dr.Shabeeba ,Dr.Sadhana and Dr.Chamila have faced these allegations of performing 60 Kidney Transplants in Private Hospitals here illeagally .

Meanwhile Director General Of Health Services Dr.Palitha Mahipala has said the Health Ministry too launched an investigations on the alleged Kidney Racket involved by some Sri Lankan Doctors .

Sri Lanka Customs Officers have today(20) arrested a 35 year old Sri Lankan at the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Air Port while he allegedly attempted to leave the country with Rs.61 million worth foreign currency notes in his possession .

The suspect who is a Gem Businessman from Galle (In Southern Province) has been arrested by Customs Officers early this morning while preparing to board a flight to Singapore according to Customs Media Spokesman Leslie Gamini.

The Sri Lanka Customs have imposed a fine of Rs.100,000 on the suspect.

International Cricket Council Has Suspended Galle International Cricket Stadium Curator Jayananda Warnaweera For Three Years

The International Cricket Council(ICC) has today(20) suspended the curator of the Galle(In Southern Province) International Cricket Stadium  the former National Cricketer Jayananda Warnaweera for a three year period.

The Galle Cricket Stadium Curator Warnaweera has been suspended due to his failure to corporate the Anti Corruption Unit of ICC regarding the ongoing investigations on match fixing allegations.

The 55 year old Warnaweera has failed to participate two interviews conducted by Anti Corruption Unit of ICC on last September and October regarding the alleged match fixing scandal and did not disclosed the documents when requested the ICC has announced.

A Principle ,Deputy Principle And A Peon Attached To A Government School Have Been Arrested For Accepting A Bribe

The Bribery Commission Officials have today (20) arrested a Principle,Deputy Principle and a Peon  attached to a Government School in Polonnaruwa(In North Central Province) regarding  accepting a sum of  Rs.7500 from a parent  as a bribe to   admitting a child to the School.

The Investigations carried out by the Bribery Commission regarding the complaint received to the Commission have revealed that Principle of the School has taken the bribe  through Deputy Principal and a Peon attached to the School.

According to the Investigation Results the Bribery Commission Officials have arrested the  three persons responsible including the Principle and they are due to be produced before the Polonnaruwa Magistrate Court.

Several Higher Officers Attached To The Police Department Including IGP Trying To Protect Those Police Officers Responsible For Embilipitiya Incident -Former ASP In Embilipitiya

Several Higher Officers attached to the Police Department including the Inspector General Of Police and Officers of Embilipitiya(In Sabaragamuwa Province) Police are trying to justify the incident occurred at a House in Embilipitiya recently   which killed a youth according to former Assistant Superintendent Of Police(ASP) in charge of Embilipitiya D.W.C Dharamaratne.

The aim of those Top Police Officers who are trying to justify the Embilipitiya Incident is none other then to protect those Police Officers who are responsible for the death of the  youth he has said.

The former ASP has revealed these facts at a press briefing held in Colombo today(20).

Rs.2500 Has Not Been Added To Salaries Of Government Employees As Promised-Trade Unions

The Rs.2500  which is due to be added to the Salaries of Government Employees with effect from this Month has not been added to the salary yet according to the Trade Unions.

Through the 2016 Annual Budget Proposals  government has  suggested to add Rs.2500 out of the Rs.10,000 monthly allowance given for Government Employees at present to their basic salaries from this January.

Police Department To Take Disciplinary Action Against OIC Of Warakapola Police Station For Reporting To Duty Under The Influence Of Alcohol

The Police Department has decided to take a Disciplinary Action against the Officer In Charge (OIC) of  Warakapola(In Central Province) Police for reporting to the Duty under influence of Alcohol.

The OIC of the Warakapola Police has been produced before the Additional Judicial Medical Officer(JMO)of the Kurunagala Teaching Hospital this morning for a test under the directive of Assistant Superintendent Of Police(ASP) in Kurunagala District and the Additional JMO has confirmed through the test report that OIC was under the Influence Of Alcohol.

The Kurunagala ASP has ordered the Warakapola OIC to undergo the Alcohol Test per a tip off received by him that the OIC has been reported to work yesterday(18) under the influence of Alcohol.

A Severe Shortage Of Around 30,000 Nurses Prevails In Government Hospitals

There's a severe shortage of around 30,000 Nurses in the Government Hospitals Island Wide at present  according to the Ministry Of Health,Nutrition And Indigenous Medicine.

Due to the Nurses Shortage some special units,wards,ICU'S and Theaters in Government Hospitals in urban and rural areas are functioning with difficulties it has been reported

The required number of Nurses estimated for Government Hospitals is around 65,000 and at present the Hospitals are having only around 35,000 Nurses the Ministry has said.Around 4500 new Nurses are passing out from Government Nurses Training Collages annually and that number is not sufficient to fill the Nurses Shortage Health Ministry has stressed.

According to the Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne steps have been taken to train more
 Graduate Nurses in view of overcoming the Nurses Shortage and in that aspect the Nurses Training College in Sri Jaywardenapura -Kotte is due to be converted into a Nursing Faculty.

The Police have used Water Cannons and dispersed the Protest March organized by Front line Socialist Party after it reached the Lotus Roundabout In Colombo this evening.

The Lotus Road was blocked for hours due to the protest march it has been reported.

This protest march was organized by   demanding the government   to provide Political Rights of  detained Front line Socialist Party Political Bureau Member Kumar Gunaratnam who is in remand due to violating visa procedure and to ensure the Democracy in the country according to the Front Line Socialist Party.

Sri Lankan Government Has Issued Orders To Courts In North To Release 106 Detained Indian Fishermen

Sri Lankan Government has issued orders to Courts in Northern Province on Monday(18)to release  106  Indian Fishermen who were detained while illegally fishing in Sri Lankan Waters. 

The orders to release 55 detained Indian Fishermen have been issued to the Courts in Mannar and Jaffna (Northern Province) while the releasing process of remaining  51 detained Indian Fishermen is due to be completed soon according to the Authorities.

Most of these  Indian Fishermen have been arrested since last November authorities have said.
