South -East University Students Protest -Have Caused Heavy Traffic From Ward Place To Town Hall.


A large number of Students attached to South-East University have conducted a protest campaign in front of the University Grants Commission(UGC) Building at Ward Place this evening had caused a heavy traffic from Ward Place to Town Hall(In Colombo) for hours.

Over one thousand Students attached to the University had participated this Protest Campaign and heated arguments occurred between commuters and a section of university students as the students have  blocked the road preventing movement of traffic.

The South-East University Students had protested in front of University Grants Commission by demanding either reconstruct or replace the Engineering Faculty of the University.As the Eniginearing Faculty has been located far away from the University lecturers are not coming for lectures most of the times Students have complained.

During the protest Police have advised the Motorists to use an alternative routes to travel.

Government To Cut The Money Allocated For Ministry Of Health In View Of Bearing The Extra Expenditure Need To Implement Budget Proposals

Image result for health ministry sri lankaGovernment has decided to reduce the  Money allocated to Ministry Of Health,Nutrition And Indigenous Medicine through the Annual Budget-2016 to bear the extra cost need  to implement  the amendments done to  Budget.  

The Money allocated for the Government's Digital Programme and Fuel And Transport Expenditure too will be managed in view of bearing the extra expenditure the Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake has informed the Parliament.

Government has decided to make some amendments to the Annual Budget-2016 including adding the Rs.10,000 Allowance provided for State Sector Employees in three stages and Reducing the increased Vehicle Emission Test Fee following the protests of Several Trade Unions.

US Assistant Secretary Of State For South And Central Asian Affairs Has Arrived In Sri Lanka

She has arrived in Sri Lanka  Last August for an official visit and hold talks with Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe and President Maithripala Sirisene .

Before arrived here the United States Assistant Secretary Of State For South And Central Asian Affairs has visited India according  to sources.

Six Indian Fishermen Have Been Arrested While Fishing In Sri Lankan Waters

Sri Lankan Navy have arrested Six Indian Fishermen along with the Boat they were travelling in on Saturday Night  while fishing in Sri Lankan Waters according to the sources.

These Fishermen who came  from Jegathapattinam Village in Pudukottai District of India have been arrested while fishing in Neduntheevu (In Northern Province) Sri Lanka sources have said.

The arrested Fishermen and their boat were later brought to Kankasanthurai(Northern Sri Lanka).

Twenty Five Passengers Have Been Injured And Hospitalized Due To A Bus Collision

Around 25 Bus Passengers have been injured and hospitalized this evening  due to a Private Bus-Ceylon Transport Board(CTB)Bus collision occurred at Padiyathalawa Area
 according to the Police.

This accident was occurred at Ampara-Kandy Main Road around 2.30 p.m the Police have said.Injured persons have been admitted to the Padiyathalawe Divisional Hospital for treatment.

Seven Persons Have Been Injured And Hospitalized Due To A Wasp Attack



Seven Persons have been injured and hospitalized yesterday(19) due to a Wasp Attack in Nawalapitiya(In Central Province) according to the Police.

Seven Injured Persons including three females have been admitted to the Nawalapitiya following the Wasp Attack Police have said.

The victims were attacked by Wasps while they were near the Nawalapitiya Railway Station.

German Car Manufacturer Volkswagen Company To Establish An Assembling Plant In Sri Lanka

Image result for volkswagen in sri lankaThe German Car Manufacturer  Volkswagen Company is due to establish an Assembling  Plant at Kuliyapitiya (In North Western Province) Area at a cost of US Dollars 265 Billion according to the Minister of Development Strategies And International Trade Malik Samarawikrame.

The Plant will create around 200 Job Opportunities for the locals the Minister has said today(19) at the Parliament.

The Volkswagen Agency in Sri Lankan had already purchased a selected land to establish the plant he has stressed.Within  next two years the Plant is due to commence it's operations.

While responding to a question raised by Opposition MP Udaya Gammanpila ,Prime Minister Ranil Wikramsinghe has said German Government has assured the Car Manufacturer Volkswagen has not suspended it's operations in Sri Lanka .

Third Reading Of The Budget Has Been Passed With Majority Of 109 Votes

The third reading of the Annual Budget-2016 has been passed today(19) with majority of 109 votes.At the vote 160 MP'S Voted  in favor of the Budget while 51 voted against it.

The  leftist Janatha Wimukthi Peramuna (JVP) and several United Peoples Freedom Alliance(UPFA) MP's of the Joint Opposition had voted against the Budget .

MP's of the Tamil National Alliance(TNA),Leader of the EPDP Douglas Devananda ,Leader Of The Ceylon Workers Congress Arumugam Thondaman and UPFA MP Lakshman Seneviratne have been voted in favor of the Budget along with Governing United National Party(UNP) MP's and UPFA MP's belonging to the Government.
