Two Pakistanis Have Been arrested Over Allegedly Stealing Rs.11 Million Worth Gems And Jewellery Frrom A Store

Image result for arrestedTwo Pakistani Nationals have been arrested over allegedly stealing Rs.11 million worth Gems and Jewellery from a Store in Colpetty (In Colombo) yesterday(17).

According to the Police The Two Pakistanis have entered the Gems and  Jewellery Shop yesterday evening and render the Shop Owner unconscious by using a Liquid Substance and robbed the Store.

The Colpetty Police have arrested the two suspected Pakistanis at two Lodges in Colombo..,

Large Number Of Farmers Have Conducted A Protest Campaign In Front Of Temple Trees To Oppose The Abolishing Of Fertilizer Subsidy

A large number of Farmers have today (17) gathered in Colombo and held a Protest Campaign in front of  "Temple Trees" the official residence of  Prime Minister Ranil Wikramsinghe by opposing the Abolishing of Fertilizer Subsidy given to farmers through the  2016 Annual Budget.

The Farmers who wore the traditional dress, loin cloths of local farmers have marched through  Dharampala Mawatha in Town Hall to " Temple Trees " this evening by creating a heavy traffic in and around Town Hall.

Commuters have faced severe difficulties due to the traffic prevailed  few hours according to sources.

Earlier the Police have blocked the farmers by marching towards Temple Trees, but later they were allowed to conduct the

Through the 2016 Annual Budget government has abolished the fertilizer subsidy given to farmers and introduced a Money Voucher System to purchase  the Fertilizer.

According to the Protesters Local Milk Powder Manufacturing Companies have   dropped the production of Milk Powder due to the price reduction of locally made  Milk Powder .As a result these companies are not purchasing Milk from Dairy Farmers they have stressed.

Heavy Traffic Has Been Reopted In Colombo Fort Railway Station Due To A Protest Campaign

A heavy traffic has been reported from Colombo Fort Area this noon due to the protest campaign held in front of Colombo Fort Railway  Station.

Sri Lankan Air Lines Flights To Four Destinations Have Been Delayed This Morning Due To The Strike Of Air Port Custom Officers

Image result for strike signSri Lankan Air Lines Flights to four destinations have been delayed for hours this morning due to the sudden strike action launched by Katunayake Bandaranaike International Air Port Customs Officers.Sri Lankan Air Lines Flights to London,Singapore,Beijing and Lahore have been delayed due to the strike according to Air Port Sources.

This Strike Action has been launched as a protest for  the Air Port Authorities decision to check personal  luggage and lunch packets brought by Air Port Customs Officers.

However few hours after commencement of   the strike action The  Air Port Custom Officers  has called off the Strike following the  discussions held  with authorities.

One Passenger Died And Fourty Were Injured Due To A Bus Accident At Lindula Area

One passenger died and fourty others were injured due to a Bus they were travelling in had  fallen down  a precipice in Lindula Area (In Central Province)this morning.

Injured passengers were hospitalized according to the Police.

These raids were carried out In view of protecting consumers from errant traders during the festive season Consumer Affairs Authority has said.

The Consumer Affairs Authority is carrying out raids at the local market to trap errant traders who are selling essential commodities for consumers at higher prices,Not displaying Prices of commodities,not issuing bills for purchased commodities and those who are selling low quality goods to consumers according to the Authority.

Former UPFA Minister Johnston Fernando Granted Bail For Five Cases Filed Against Him On Failing To Declare His Assets

Image result for former minister johnston fernandoThe Former United Freedom Peoples Alliance(UPFA) Minister MP Johnston Fernando has been granted   bail by Colombo Chief Magistrate yesterday(15) over the cases filed against him by Bribery Commission regarding failing to declare his assets.

When the cases were taken up for hearing yesterday the Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya has ordered to release the former Minister Fernando on Personal Bail of Rs.1 million per each case and Cash Bail of Rs.10,000.Altogether Five Cases were filed against former Minister Johnston Fernando by the Bribery Commission on 27th of November for his failure to declare his assets during the period 2010-2014.

However the former minister has been barred from leaving the country and should seek permission from the court if he want to visit overseas.

The case will be taken up for hearing again on 27th Of April 2016.

Health Ministry Has Made A Promise Before Supreme Court To Provide Clinical Training For Malabe Priavte Medical College Students In Government Hospitals

After the Supreme Court has taken into conisderation the Human Rights case filed by Students Of the Malabe Private Medical College ,The Health Ministry Representatives presnt at the court have made this promise.Accordingly Malabe Medical Students will be received the Clinical Training On Community Medicine and Judicial Medicine at Kaduwela MOH Office and Awissawella Base Hospital..

The Clinical Training of Malabe Private Medical College Students which should be conducted through Government Hospitals  has been delayed due to the opposition came from Doctors Unions
