Floods Occurred In Somawathiya Temple Area Suspends Pilgrim Arrivals
Floods are being occurred in Historical Somawathiya Temple and surrounding roads in the area Due to the heavy showers prevailing in Polonnaruwa District ( North Central Province) at present it has been reported.
Due to this situation the authorities have temporarily suspended the arrivals of Pilgrims to the area .Alms prepared by the Buddhist Monks in Somawathiya Temple had been transported to the statue of Buddha through boats according to Disaster Management Center(DMC).
Members Of 67 Familes In Lunugala And Passara Areas Removed Due To Landslide Threat
Members of 67 families in Divisional Secretariets at Passara and Lunugala areas were removed from their houses yesterday(30)due to landslide threats according to the Disaster Msnagement Center.
The removed families are being located in collages of the respective areas the Center has stated.
A Police Constable Was Killed During A Raid In South South
A Police Constable attached to Special Crimes Investigations Division in Dematagoda Police was killed and a Sub Inspector has been injured and admitted to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital due to a gun shooting incident occurred during a police raid at Jamburegoda area in wee hours of this morning (31).
A Group of persons fired gun shots towards the Police team during the raid it has been reported.Police investigation is underway regarding this incident .

President Of Govt.Medical Officers Forum Was Questioned By CID
The President Of Government Medical Officers Forum Dr.Rukshan Bellana was questioned by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for five hours yesterday (28) over his statement saying CID is protecting the masterminds behind the purchasing of substandard drugs .
Accordingly CID had questioned Dr .Bellana on his statements regarding the purchasing of Controversial Human Immunoglobulin Injection vials it has been reported.
Over 700 Measles Patients Reported During Last Seven Months
During last seven Months over 700 Measles patients mainly children had been identified from Sri Lanka according to the Epidemiology Unit.
Accordingly since last May upto now these patients had been reported and the majority of these patients were reported from Colombo,Gampaha and Jaffna districts the Director of the Epidemiology Unit Dr Samitha Ginige has stated.
Cake Sales Dropped By 75 Percent During This Christmas
Due to the higher prices of Cakes in the local market ,Sales of them were dropped by 75 percent during this year's Chirstmas according to the All Ceylon Bakery Owners Association .
Compare to the last Chriatmas the Sale of Christmas Cakes was dropped by 25 percent during this years Christmas the President of the Association N.K Jayawardane had stated.As a result of the higher prices of Eggs in the local Market and shortage of other Cake ingredients the prices of Cakes are being skyrocketed he had stressed.
Fifteen Containers Containing Medicines Are Being Held In Port Over Several Issues
Fifteen Containers containing medicines imported by the Private sector are being held at the Colombo harbor due to several issues including problems related to the registration of the relevent Pharmaceutical Companies according to the Health Ministry Secretary Dr.Palitha Mahipala.
As these Medicine Containers did not get the clearence over the issues related to the Importers ,Health Ministry had appointed a Committee comprising of officials attached to the National Medicine Regulatory Authority,State Pharmaceuticals Corporation ,Medical Supplies Division and the Ministry Of Health to look on the issue DrMahipala had stated.
Government To Remove Ports And Airport Tax From VAT Imposed On Fuel And Gas
Government has decided to remove the Ports and Airport tax from the 18 percent VAT (value added tax) Tax scheduled to be imposed on Fuel and Gas with effect from 01st of January next year according to the Tax policy advisor to the Ministry of Finance Thanuja Perera.
Accordingly 7.5 percent Ports and Airport Tax imposed on fuel as well as the 2.5 percent Ports and Airport tax imposed on Gas will be removed from the 18 percent VAT scheduled to be imposed on these products from 01st of January.
Six Suspects Including Health Secretary Further Remanded Over Purchasing Of Substandard Immunoglobulin
The imprisoned Six suspects including the former Secretary to the Ministry Of Health Janaka Chandragupta had been further remanded until 10th of January by Maligakanda Magistrate Court last Wednesday (27) over the controversial purchasing of Substandard Human Immunoglobulin Injection vials for Government Hospitals.
Out of these suspects the Former Health Secretary was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on 18th of December after arriving at CID headquarters to give a statement .

A Student Has Died After Drowning In A Water Hole
A 15 year old Student has died after drowning in a Deep Water hole belongs to the Galabada water fall at Nawalapitiya area this evening(26)according to Nawalapitiya Police.
The deceased student was identified as a resident of Panabokka in Kadugannawa area snd faced this incident whilst bathing with few of his friends it has been revealed .
A Prison Inmate Died DueTo A Brawl
A 46 year old Prison inmate at Kalutara Prison has died due to a brawl occurred among inmates of the Prison yesterday (25).

Director General Of Pensions Proposed A Reduction Of Govt.Employees Leave
The Director General Of Pensions A Jagath De Diaz has submitted a proposal to the Parliament Select Committee on Responsible Government to reduce the duty leave of Government employees from 45 to 25 according to the Sources.

Around 2000 Arrested During Narcotic Raids Sent For Rehabilitation
Around 2000 persons arrested in possession of narcotics during the Anti narcotic raids carried out by the Police Department have been sent for rehabilitation according to the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board.
The majority of these persons who were directed for rehabilitation are being subjected to the residential community treatment and rehabilitation process as a result of the shortage of room facilities in rehabilitation centers the Board has stated.

Former Health Minister Will Ve Arrested Over Importing Low Quality Drugs
If found an evidence that the former Health Minister and Current Enviornment Minister Keheliya Rambukwella was responsible for importing low quality drugs to Sri Lanka he will be taken into custody over the allegations according to the Minister of Public Security Tiran Allas.
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is currently probe on the low quality drugs iimportation to Sri Lanka and if the CID found substantial evidence that the Minister had involved in importing low quality drugs to Sri lanka he will be arrested the Minister has stated

Ministry Of Trade To Import Eggs From India
The Ministry of Trade,Commerce and Food Security has planned to Import Eggs from India until April 2024 in view of Stabalizing the egg prices in the local market according to the Secretary to the Ministry Ranjith Atapattu.
Accordingly Ministry has planned to sell these Eggs importing from India for Rs.35 as the price of an Egg in the local market has increased to Rs.60 at present the Secretary has stated.
Five Persons Injured Due To A Brawl In Haputale
Five persons were hospitalized with serious knife cut wounds due to a brawl occurred between two groups at Beragala junction in Haputhale area(Up country) yesterday (19).
The injured were admitted to the Haldammulla District Hospital for treatment and later transferred to Diyatalawa Base hospital for further treatment .The Brawl had occurred regardingt aShop in the area.

Former Health Secretary Arrested Over Supplying Fake Injection Vials
The Former Secretary to the Ministry Of Health Janaka Sri Chandragupta has been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over supplying a Fake stock of Human Immunoglobulin injection vials to Government Hospitals.He was arrested on his arrival to the CID to give a statement regarding the allegations levelled against him.
The Former Health Secretary has been remanded until 27 th of December after being produced before the Maligakanda Magistrate Court.The Court has also ordered to close the Medical supllies office at the Health Ministry in view of allowing authorities to check the docuements related to the injection vials in question . Four Persons including the former Director of Medical Supplies Dicision(MSD) Dr.Kapila,Wikramanayake are being imprisoned over supplying of fake Immunoglobulin vials to the Government Hoapitals.

Fifty Inmates Of Kandakadu Camp Escaped
Fifty inmates attached to the Kandakadu Rehabilitation Camp at Welikanda area(North Central Province) were escaped from the Camp this evening (11) due to a tense situation occurred at the Camp it has been reported.
