LIOC Had Revised It's Fuel Prices

 Lanka Indian Oil Company (LIOC) had revised the fuel prices similarly  to that of CEYPETCO with effect from 31st of July (Yesterday ) according to the LIOC.


Ceylon Petroleum Corporation  had revised it's fuel prices with effect from yesterday .

 The  Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CEYPETCO ) had revised it's  fuel prices with effect from midnight last night(31) according to the Corporation .


Accordingly a liter of Octane 92 petrol had been increased by Rs.20 ,A liter of Octane-95 petrol had been increased by Rs.10 and a Liter of Super Diesel had been increased by Rs.12 .The prices of A liter of Lanka white Diesel and Kerosene oil had been reduced by Rs.02 and Rs.10 respectively

Auditor General Appointed A 15 Member Investigation Team To Probe On Sub Standard Medcine

The Auditor General W.P.C Wikramaratne  had appointed  a15 member investigation  team to investigate on the importation of Sub standard medicine to the country since 2022  upto now. .


The Investigation Team Consists of officials and  doctors representing the Ministry of Health ,Medical Supplies Division ,State Oharmaceuticals Corporation ,Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Corporation ,And representatives of Major Hospitals in the ialand including Colombo National Hospital.




French President Macron Visited Sri Lanka For A Brief Period

 French President Emmanuel Macron who had visited Sri Lanka for a brief period on  last friday  (28)night, the first ever by a french president in History ,met with Sri Lankan President Ranil Wikramasinghe and held  bi lateral talks at the Katunayake Intetnational Airport premises.


Both presidents held bi lateral talks for more than one hour and French president had promised to support sri lanka on  debt restructuring process and many other fields it has been reported.


Visiting Japanese Foreign Minister To Hold Bi Lateral Talks With SriLankan Officials

 The Japanese Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa and his delegation arrived in Sri lanka yesterday  (29) for a two day official visit are  scheduled to hold bi lateral talks with President Ranil Wikramasinghe and sri lankan officials .


The Japanese delegation is,scheduled to explore investment opportunities in Sri Lanka according to government sources.



Two Persons Died Due To A Motor Car Accident In Kandy

 Two persons including a Russian national and a female resident in Kandy district had died and two others critically injured and hospitalized  after the Motor car they were travelling in had toppled over to a precipice at ududumbara area in Meemure road , Kandy today(29).The deceased Russian natonal was 28 years  old and the female was 51 years old it has been revealed.


The injured were admitted to the Madanuwara Hospital in Kandy and later they were transferred to the Kandy General  Hos


Former Convener Of IUSF Released On Bail

 Colombo Chief Magistrate had yesterday(28) ordered the Cinnamon  Gardens police to release the  former convener of the Inter University Students Federation (IUSF)Wasantha Mudalige on a,surety  bail of Rs.100,000 .


The Chief Magistrate  had ordered  the Police to release the former Convener on bail after been priduced before the Court yesterday.Mudalige was arrested by the Cinnamon Gardens Police over not appearing before the Court to.face the  case filed against him over protesting in front of the Mimistry of Higher education in colombo in 2020 by violating a court order .

Two Students Died Due To a A Motorbike Accident

 Two Collage Students were killed after the Motorcycle ridden by them was crashed  into a lamp post near the Thambagalla River at Madampe area( North Western province) last evening (27) according to the Madampe Police.


The deceased students were 16 year olds and residents of Madampe and Ruwanwella areas the Police have stated.

A New Vice Chancellor Appointed To University Of Kelaniya,

 The Senior Medical Professor Nilanthi Renuka De Silva has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya with effect from 24th of August according to the President's  Media Division.


Accordingly This appointment  was made by the President Ranil wikramasinghe for a Three year period .

Cinamon Gardens Police Arrested Two IUSF Members Over Avoiding Court

Cinamon  Gardens Police had yesterday(27) arrested two members of the Inter University Students Federation (IUSF) including the former convener Wasantha Mudalige over not appearing  before the court regarding the case filed against them for protesting infront of the Ministry of Higher Education on 27 th of February 2022.


Accordingly Cinamon Gardens police had arrseted the two  IUSF members on the arrest warrents issued by the court .

Norwegian Embassy In Colombo To Close On 31st

 As the Norwegian Embassy in Colombo is  scheduled to be Closed on 31st of July ,All the bilateral issues  between Norway with Sri Lanka and Maldives will be handled by the Norwegian Embassy in New delhi,India with effect from 01st of August according to the statement issued by the Embassy .


However the reason behind this move has not yet been revealed by the Embassy.The official facebook page of the Embassy  too scheduled to be closed with effect from 31st of July.

 A pilot project is scheduled to be implemented  soon to introduce first ever batch of Electric buses to the country with the aim of Providing a quality  and efficient transport service the State Minister of Transport  Lasantha Alagiyawanna had stated.

Riot Police Fired Tear Gas To Disperse A Univesity Students Protest

 The Riot Police had yesterday (26) fired tear gas and water cannons to disperse a Protest march organized by the group of Universiry students attached to Inter University Studenta Federation (IUSF)  near Town hall area  .


The protest march which began from the Viharamahadevi park in Town hall was held by  demanding solutions for several demands including the releasing of the chairman and few members  of Srudents Union attached to kelaniya university who were arrested recently . 

Seventeen Maning Market Traders Arrested Over A Protest Released On Bail

 Colombo Additional Magistrate  had yesterday (26)released 17 traders including the president of the Maning Market Traders union who were  arrested  over holding a protest Campaign in front of the Paliyagoda Maning town market by viloating  a court order .The traders were released on a,surety bail of Rs.100,000 each.


Earlier A court order was issued against holding prorests in front of the Maning market in paliyagoda ,However Traders of the market had  violated the court order and  launched a Protest in front of the Market after closing all trade stalls over  a problem arisen when allocating  trade stalls,for traders.That protest  caused enormous,difficulties for pedestrians in the area it has been reported.Paliyagoda Policw had arrested the suspects and produced before the court .

An Inquiry Is Being Held On Low Quality Drug Usage-Government Auditor

 An inquiry is currently being held to find out whether the low quality and unregistered drugs are in use in Government hospitals as complained by several factions according  to the Government Auditor General W.P.S Wikramaratne. 


Accordingly this inquiry  is in the last stage and  the report of it will be handed over to the authorities soon the Auditor General had stated.This inquiry is being held covering all Gocernment Hospitals in the island he had stated.

Maximum Retail Price Of An Egg Had Been Removed

 The Ministry Of Trade had withdrawn   the two Gazette Notifications issued earlier regarding the Maximun Retail price of an Egg with effect from midnight last night (25) according to the Ministry .



Two new Gazette notifications were issued last night replacing the previous notifcations issued regarding selling of an Egg each and A Kilo Of Eggs the Ministry had stated.Due to the Maximum retail price Gazette notification a shortage of Eggs occcured in the local market since a few months  .

Government had earlier fixed a maximum retail price for Brown egg and white egg as Rs.46 and Rs.44 respectively .Meanwhile Government had taken steps to issue stocks of  eggs imported from India to all supermarket and Sathosa chains with effect from yesterday  from Rs.35 each.Earlier these eggs were issued only for hotelliers and bakers.

A Nine Hour Water Cut To Be Implemented In Gampaha District Today(26)

 A Nine and half hour long water cut is scheduled to be implemented  today (26)in seven areas of Gampaha District (Western Province )from 8.30 a.m to 6 p.m ) according  to the National Water supply and drainage board.


Accordingly  this water cut will be implemented  in seven areas of Gampaha district including Wathpitiwala ,Maimbula,Ranpokunugama Housing scheme and Attanagalla areas due to an urgent repair work of a pipeline the Water Board had announced.

A 21 Year Old Was Killed ,Nine Others Injured Due To An Attack

 A 21 year old female was killed and nine others including three children were injured and hospitalized  due to an attack made by a masked group at a house at Thonikkal area in Vavuniya (Northern province)during a birthday pary held last Saturday according to the Police .


The mob had set fire to the house and the fire brigade at the Fire services department  of the  Vavuniya Municipal council and the residents of the  area had doused the fire it has been revealed.The reason behind the incident has not yet been revealed.


Several Train Journeys Due To Be Cancelled Due To A Railway Strike

 Several train journeys had been cancelled since yesterday (23) due to the Islandwide strike action  launched by tbe Engine drivers according to the Sri Lanka Railways Department .


The Engine drivers had launched this strike against their scheduled time table and more office trains and mail trains are being expected to be cancelled today (24 ) as well the Department had stated.


A 47 Year Old Businessman Had,Died After Faling From A,Building

 A 47 year old entrepreneur had died after falling from a fifth floor of a building at Rosmeed place in Colombo -07  yesterday (23) according to the Cinamon  garden police.


The deceased had succumbed to his injuries after admission to the Colombo National Hospital.Police had suspected that the deceased may have committted suicide as he is taking medicine for a prolonged ailment at the time of his death.Cinnamon  Garden  Police are coconducting an investigation on the incident .

Two Former Imprisoned LTTE Members Were Released On Presidential Pardon

 Two former LTTE members including an accused sentenced by the Colombo High court for a 200 year imprisonment over  involving in  Central Bank bomb explosion in Colombo fort which killed 91 persons ,were released under Presidential pardon it has been reported.


Accordingly  69 year old former LTTE member Sellaia Nawarsthnam who was sentenced for 200 year impisonment and  56 year old S.Shanmugaraja who was sentenced life time  imprisonment over transporting goods for LTTE   were released on 18 th of July due to their good behaviour the Prisons Department had stated.

Import Restrictions Imposed Over 328 Items Removed

 Import restrictions imposed over 328 items were relaxed with effect from yesterday (20) according to the State Minister of Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya .The gazette notification regarding the relaxing of  these import restrictions was issued last night (20) the Minister had stated.


These import restrictions were imposed due to the economic crisis faced by the  country as a result of the shortage of foreign reseves . Government had lifted the import restrictions imposed on 300 items including Electronic equipment and sanitaryware  last month.However the Inport restrictions imposed on  motor vehicles still remains.


A French Female Was Hospitalized Due To A Wild Elephant Attack

 A 24 year old french female had been injured and hospitalized  due to a Wild Elephant attack at Sithulpawwa Raja Maha Temple in Hambanthota district (Southern Province) yesterday(20).


The injured female was admitted to the Debarawewa Hospital for treatment and her condition is not critical according to the sources .The incident occurred when the french female had attempted to photograph the Wild elephant who was inside the temple .Four persons near the injured female including three french nationals had chased away the Elephant  and admitted the injured  to the hospital it has been reported.

Underworld Gang Member Was Shot And Killed By STF

 A 29 year old underworld gang member was shot and killed by the members of the Special Police Task force(STF) personal during a gun shooting incident occured at a hospital in  Mahagama,Minuwangoda area(Colombo)  in the wee hours of last morning (20).


This  incident occurred when the STF Personal had attempted to arrest the underworld gang member hidden at a house in Minuwangoda.The suspect was critically injured and admitted to the Minuwangoda Base Hospital where he had  succumbed to his injuries.A Police constable attached to tbe STF was also injured during the gun shooting incident and admitted to the Gampaha Base Hospital  for treatment.

Doctors Attached To Ridgway Hospital OPD Launched A Strike

 All the doctors working at the Outdoor patients Department (OPD) of the Lady Ridgway childrens Hospital in Borella (Colombo) had launched a 24 hour long strike action today (19) for the first time in the history ,demanding an inquiry against an ill tempered doctor of the hospital

clinics of the Hospital OPD were paralyzed and child patients had faced enormous difficulties according to the sources.

A 62 Year Old Person Died Due To A Gun Shooting

 A 62 year old person was killed due to a gun shooting incident occurred at a house in North Kadawara area in Koggalla,Ambalanthota (Southern Province) in wee hours of this morning(19).


Three persons were involved in the shooting incident according to the Police.

Six Persons Were Injured Due To A Wasp Attack

 Six persons including three children were critically injured and hospitalized  due to a Wasp attack occurred at Nirmalapura area in Daluwa,Notochchalai at Puttalam District yesterday(15) it has been reported.

A Bus Travelling From Badulla To Colombo Toppled Over In Demodara Area

A bus travelling from Badulla to Colombo had been toppled over to a Floral house near the Water Board office at Demodara,area in Badulla yesterday (15)  injuring 25 passangers it had been reported.

An Eight And Half Hour Long Water Cut Scheduled For Today(16)

 An eight and  half hour long water cut is scheduled to be implemented  from 8.30 a.m to 5 p.m today (16) In Wattala,Paliyagoda ,Seeduwa and Katunayake Urban Council areas due to an urgent repair work in Sapugaskande Sub power grid according to National Water Supplies and Drainage Board .


This water cut will be implemented as a result of the halting water supply to the Biyagama Water purification plant for eight and half hours today (16) the wster Board has stated.
