Discussions are currently underway to transform the Sri Lanka Railways Department in to an Authority according to the Minister of Transport ,Highways and Media Bandula Gunawardane .
The transformation of Sri Lanka Railways Department in to an Authority will be done in view of providing a maximum quality service to the public the Minister has stated ,Transformation process will not effect to the Employees salaries and the pension scheme he had stressed
