Colombo High Court had today (06) sentenced Minister of Urban Development and Housing Prasanna Ranatunge to two year imprisonment suspended for five years over a case filed for threatening a businessman over the phone and demanding Rs.64 million ransom in 2015 ,
The High Court had also ordered the Minister Ranatunge to pay a fine of Rs.25 million and In the event of defaulting the fine the Minister was ordered to serve nine months imprisonment. In addition the High court had ordered the Minister to pay a compensation of Rupees one million to t he virtual complaint of the case ,Businessman Gehad Mendis had lodged a complaint against the Minister Ranatunge ,
