A Male Visited Recently Concluded Colombo International Book Fair Had Been Tested Positive For Corona Virus -Some Medical Peraonal Too Given Approval For The Fair Amidst Corona Threat

 A 36 year old male who had visited the recently concluded Colombo International Book Fair held at BMICH, Colombo amidst corona pandamic, had tested positive for Corona virus according to Health authorities. 


The Corona positive who is a resident of Chilaw had visited the Book fair which was held by violating health guidelines according to Health authorities, on 23 rd of September and after the visit he had visited Colombo Fort area as well it has been revealed. 

There after the positive had visited Nuwara Eliya area on 30 th of September according to reports.

Contact tracing regarding the Corona positive is currently underway it has been repprted .

Even one of the Doctors trade unions had seen requesting the public To Visit the Book Fair by washing hands and wearing masks during the fair .

The annual Colombo International Book Fair which was held from 18-27 of September in an unusual conditions violated the Health guidelines issued by the Health Ministry now the officials have stated. However they were the ones who gave permission to hold this event which draw huge crowd and advised the exhibition organisers to enter 300 visitors at once .

However no health officials had visited the fair and Inspect whether it was held according to Anti Corona health guidelines except Colombo Chief Medical Officers Dr.Ruwan wijemuni who had made a report and submitted to Acting Director General Of Health Services Dr.S.Sridharan saying the Book fair should be stopped else reduce the number of days it was held due to the poor behaviour of the crowd violating health guidelines .However authorities didn't take any action against it and the Book Publishers Association too told the fair will be conducted as scheduled but adapting health guidelines which were not seen during the fair according to Health officials .
