Former Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe Had step-down From The UNP Leadership

Leader Ranil Wikramasinghe has today (10)decided to step down from the leadership of the One of the oldest parties  in Sri Lanka, United National Party  (UNP) following the worst ever defeat faced  by the Party  at the recently concluded Parliamentary Election .

Both UNP and it"s leader Ranil Wikramasinghe had been defeated in the election  and the former Premier has not  able to secure a seat in the Parliament.

UNP Leader has taken this decision to step down from his post during the meeting of the working committe held at Party Headquarthers in Sirikotha ,Colombo today.

General Secretary of the United National Party Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Deputy leader of the Party Ravi Karunanayake, Former Minister    Daya Gamage and Vajira Abeywardana had been  nominated for the post and the new leader of the Party is due to be announced on this Tuesday (11).
