Cabinet has approved a proposal to
purchase 100 Mega Watt additional Electricity from three companies in United Kingdom,Hong Kong and United Arab Emirates to the National power grid for a six month period to ensure continuous power supply in the country.
This will be implemented as a temporary measure according to reports.
Earlier it has been stated that the Minister of Power Ravi Karunanayake has submitted a proposal to the cabinet to purchase additional Electricity from the private sector for a five year period.
Meanwhile the four hour power cut implemented in many areas in the country since 25 th of March has been stopped from today(11)it has been announced by the Ministry of Power and Energy.
