Chief Justice Nalin Perera has today
(26)appointed a seven member Judge Panel instead of three member Judge Panel chaired by him to hear the Petitions filed against Dissolvement of Parliament by the President Maithripala Sirisena .
Accordingly the new Judge Panel is comprising of Chief Justice Nalin Perera (Head),Judges Priyantha Jayawardana, Prasanna Jayawardana, Buwaneka Aluvihare ,Sisira De A brew, Vijitha Malalgoda and Madhu Fernando.
The seven member Judge Panel has been appointed after considering a motion filed at Supreme Court by the leader of Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna (Sri Lanka People's Ieofressive Front- Pohottuwa symbol )Professor G. L.Pieris by requesting to appoint a complete Judge Panel Comprising of more than five member Judge Panel today hear the petitions against dissolvement of Parliament.
The Judge Panel is due to hear the Petitions filed by several.political parties and Civil organization's against Dissolving Parliament on 04th ,05 th and 06 th of December and verdict is due to be delivered on 07th of December .
Petitioners have requested the Court to issue an order stating The dissolvement of Parliament is illegal .Court had already issued an interim order suspending the gazette notification issued regarding dissolvement of Parliament until 07 th of December .
