Veterinary Surgeons Began Treating Wounds Of Elephant "Kalana" Who Had Been Left Untreated

A team of veterinary surgeons attached to Pinnawala orphanage had today (25)began treating the Elephant "Kalana" of  Sri Upulwan Devalaya(Religious place) at Devinuwara (Southern Province )who had received injuries to his legs through  the chains he was  tied with and left untreated  for several weeks .

The Elephant who is among four Elephants in Sri Lanka carrying sacred relics during processions even not allocated a safe place to stay at Devalaya premises and during the day and night he is staying  at a  open venue  it has been revealed.
